Portland, OR, remains nearly ground zero for violence and destruction nine long months after George Floyd last gasped for breath under the knee of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Just three weeks ago, authorities removed the fencing around the federal courthouse, giving residents hope the dark days in Rose City had finally ceased.
Not so fast, hippies. The likes of Antifa and Black Lives Matter stirred the pot again and descended upon the beleaguered city, blocking streets, breaking windows, and vandalizing the courthouse. Dollars to donuts, this may be the first account some citizens have read of recent debauchery in lefty-land in a long time. No one wants to talk about peaceful protesters causing “good trouble.” Not to cross lips is the behavior costing the city billions in property destruction, lives lost to chaos, and the sad fact that an economy surviving the battering of a pandemic is still closed due to violence, arson, and uncontrollable urges of the criminal element.
Mayor Ted Wheeler, once a victim of the peaceful protests when he was run out of his lofty downtown condo last year, pleaded for mercy – with a tiny twinge of possible anger, as noted in The Wall Street Journal:
“’The community is sick and tired of people engaging in acts of criminal destruction and violence,’ Mayor Ted Wheeler said at a news conference last week. The rioters, he said, were harming the cause of racial justice and ‘also standing on the air hose of the economic recovery for a lot of our small businesses.’”
What are the drive-by media and their political pundits focusing on instead of the terror and destruction of American cities?
Immigration, COVID
Joe Biden was hailed as a humanitarian super-hero when he scribbled his name to an Executive Order in an attempt to undo a Trump edict on illegal immigration — symbolically. Oops. Detention centers are now overrun with conditions dizzying to the human mind: 18,000 children cooped up and on the concrete floors, with not much more than a foil blanket, waiting on someone to help them. Where’s the outrage? Surely the media are all over this catastrophe of immigrant suffering. Where’s AOC and her fence-clutching, tearful face, bemoaning the atrocities committed on illegal aliens?
As Liberty Nation’s Editor-in-Chief Leesa K. Donner writes:
“By now, most of the nation understands the two deadly sins of a biased media – commission, and omission. The latter is in full play as things at the border rapidly unravel.”
In terms of humanitarian issues, this Biden boondoggle is without equal. But let’s not talk about that until it can be linked back to the previous administration.
There’s a pandemic? But Biden took COVID-19 out behind the gym. At least that’s what he blathers on and on about — extolling his plan to eradicate the pandemic by vaccinating millions of people and sending COVID-19 packing. As the latest U.S. president stated, “We will issue further guidance on what you can and cannot do once fully vaccinated.” Problem solved. The dark winter is starting to get a bit brighter. Sigh.
Carrions Carry On With Anti-Trump Narrative
[ln-radio align=”left”] Instead of examining every nook, cranny, and crevice of issues emanating from the new administration, the elite media dwell on the past – as if their very lives and ratings yearn for Donald Trump. Pundits refuse to talk about collusion that includes foreign nationals and liberal politicians, or quid pro quo in Ukraine, or Chinese spies in the employee breakroom on Capitol Hill.
But boy howdy, there is a quagmire of minutiae from the Jan. 6 Capitol breach being picked apart by the vulturous media as if they hadn’t been fed a steady diet of chum to scavenge upon for meat. Self-proclaimed distributors of news, outlets publish full texts on every detail of arrests – with photos – of people who participated in the “insurrection.” By summer, we’ll know their shoe size.
Conversely, protesters in Portland are anonymous. When they are detained for the destruction of property and a myriad of crimes, cops seize crowbars, hammers, bear spray, high-impact slingshots, and knives – those peaceful thugs. There are no photos, detailed incident reports, or addresses of those angry folks throwing a felonious tantrum. Hmm.
And just to be clear: The glorious use of the word “protester” is assigned only to those battling for the soul of a nation.
