Trump Says Dems Can’t Win in 2020, Elections Expert Agrees

President Trump is openly taunting Democrats, telling them they can’t win in 2020. The latest slaps suggest the president is of the belief that Democrats just being themselves is his ace in the hole for the next national election. It appears he revels in their ever-increasing radicalism and hostile demeanor towards anyone who crosses their dogmatic standards.

Trump tweeted out a stinging rebuke to Democrats over their bullying attitude toward acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as he testified before the House Judiciary Committee on February 8:

“The Democrats in Congress yesterday were vicious and totally showed their cards for everyone to see. When the Republicans had the Majority they never acted with such hatred and scorn! The Dems are trying to win an election in 2020 that they know they cannot legitimately win!”

Just as they did during the nomination hearings for new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Democrats showed their surly, authoritarian side in their questioning of Whitaker. They continue to send an unintentional message to the American people residing outside their urban base of supporters that they do not have the temperament to responsibly govern this nation.

Their Worst Enemy

Pouring more fuel on the fire, they have also significantly upped their leftist game in ways that will horrify anyone who isn’t a committed Democrat ideologue. By ardently pushing extreme legislation on gun control, actively supporting infanticide and proudly embracing identity politics, Democrats are narrowing their nationwide reach by the day.

But it doesn’t stop there. Virginia Democrats are in full thermal meltdown because leftists’ “gotcha” game on racism has literally blown up in their grease-painted faces. This theater of the absurd further alienates the party from Americans who do not want to see their country devolve into a social justice soap opera over every scrap of PC-decreed wrongdoing that may pop up from the pasts of every remotely public figure.

Oh, and there’s more. Life-long Democrat Howard Schultz, ex-CEO of Starbucks, is contemplating an independent presidential bid. Dems, instead of treating him with courtesy and politely seeking ways to avoid a path that would indeed help Trump, instead furiously lashed out at him for daring such a move, only encouraging him more in his belief that the party is too far left for him to possibly call home.

Democrats have handed Trump an overflowing chest of useful tools to significantly brighten his 2020 forecast, so it is no wonder he is mocking their chances against him. And now a leading election expert agrees that Trump is bound to win, the way things now stand. Election analyst Henry Olsen, who is also a columnist at the Trump-hating Washington Post, told The Hill that the president does not need to garner 50% of the national vote to win re-election, as the blue army that opposes him is squeezed into a few large, coastal states like California and New York.

“Opposition to him is so concentrated in large blue states if he’s at 47[%] on Election Day, he’s at over 50% in every swing state, including Arizona and Michigan, and he’s going to win re-election,” Olsen flatly stated.

Boxing Themselves In

Democrats can thank their lurch to the hard left for creating a dynamic where their appeal is strictly limited to progressive urban enclaves in major cities and well-heeled liberal towns on the coasts. And they seem to realize the box they have shut themselves in. How else do you explain their urge to overthrow the Electoral College? [perfectpullquote align=”left” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=”24″]How else do you explain their urge to overthrow the Electoral College?[/perfectpullquote]

A group called National Popular Vote is pushing to create a compact among states whereby members would pledge to award their electoral votes to whoever wins the majority of votes nationwide. The group seems to think that once they hit an electoral majority of 270 votes within their compact, they can eliminate the Electoral College altogether. Democrats are supporting this initiative. And why not? It will remove the need to campaign in those pesky rural states that just don’t get the urgent need to embrace trendy new progressive ideas.

In many ways, Trump has baited progressive Dems into this position. They feel a need to counter what they perceive to be his “craziness” with a bold and hostile posture of their own. “The Trump presidency has widened the aperture of what’s acceptable debate in the country, and I think there’s a hunger for boldness to meet this political moment,” Neera Tanden, president of the leftist Center for American Progress told philly.com. “People recognize that Trump offers kind of radical ideas and that our ideas are better.”

Telegraphed between the lines of this quote is more proof that Trump continues to own all the real estate in these people’s heads. He’s been rattling around their skulls since 2016, and 2020 will be more of the same. Democrats appear bound and determined to hand Donald Trump the White House once again because they will not discipline themselves enough to develop a sensible strategy to defeat a man they despise with all their being.
