LN: Two Years and Going Strong

A couple of years ago, we asked ourselves a question: Is there a place in the body politic for internet-based news and commentary that tells the truth and is willing to advance conservative principles? After two years we have a clear, resounding answer: Yes!

On that cold and rainy day when Donald J. Trump took the oath of office, LibertyNation.com was launched. Our goal was to offer bold, fresh, high-quality writing at a time in American history when the mainstream news media has removed all pretense of objectivity and essentially became an advocate for the left.

This past year, Liberty Nation registered over four million views. From 2017 to 2018, we tripled our average daily views and raised our daily sessions from 470,501 to 1,682,449. That’s a 257% increase in one year.

Liberty Nation also doubled its first-time visitors. We find our readers tend to return to LN in droves – with 51% of our traffic coming from returning visitors. Bigger, of course, doesn’t always mean better so while we tried to reach more readers, we were extremely cognizant of keeping our content up to snuff. Many of our visitors noticed and referenced our authors with appreciation for their writing and quality of thought:

“Blow me away. Beautiful, absolutely phucking (sp) beautiful. If the purpose of journalism is to educate and inform, I am edified all over the page … You moved me all over the page, from one edge of the line to the next. You knew your mind, and now we are all that much more hip for it. Journeyman workmanship, you’re something of a real mechanic. When you’re centered, you’re a dangerous writer. [Referencing a Leesa K. Donner article.]

“Ms. Fiorino looks like a 20-something in her picture. To find out she actually knows what she’s talking about, rather than just reporting someone else’s facts, was a refreshing shock to my new-numb senses. Great article!”

“I roared with laughter at this wonderful article.” [Referencing a Sarah Cowgill article.]

“[James] Fite clearly and unequivocally nailed it with this one.”

“[Andrew] Moran nails the essence of the incentive for illegal immigration with this article.”

Liberty Nation also recognizes the many platforms that are used by Americans to get their news. We used this information to bump up our presence on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

As for YouTube, we averaged 127 views in a typical week in 2017 and 16,699 views per week in 2018. More than 75K people watched one of our Five Facts videos. The average minutes watched on our YouTube channel in 2017 was 353 – that jumped to 23,371 minutes per week in 2018.  As for Facebook, in Dec. of 2017, we had 1,973 followers, but by Dec. 2018, we had 18,536 followers. As of this writing, we have 20,020 FB followers and counting. Then there’s Twitter: In Dec. 2017 we had 750 followers, but by Dec. of 2018, it was 5,537 people following our LN tweets.

All this to say that we are growing quite rapidly. There is a clear and present desire for many people to dial into what we have to say at Liberty Nation. Our motto is “Truth is Making a Comeback,” and our goal is to stay true to that mission as we seek to inform, educate, and provide honest perspectives on issues that affect our republic.

This has all been accomplished in spite of the daily uphill battle of a hostile atmosphere toward those who seek to advance conservative ideas in the public square. We have been shut down, throttled back and shadow banned. We have been refused the opportunity to advertise on myriad platforms. It is a daily struggle to shine the light of liberty without being banished by those holding the keys to the technological kingdoms of our day.

Nevertheless, we find that advancing the cause of liberty is worth the fight.  And we are grateful to those who have supported us, to our readers, to our viewers and our followers. So let’s make 2019 an even better year together!
