With the release of the so-called “Twitter Files,” an extensive effort by the Joe Biden administration to censor free speech was exposed for all to see. The administration coordinated with – or one might say pressured – tech companies, and specifically social media platforms, to remove or at least suppress certain opinions or even factual media reports it found unfavorable. The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government has been posting the Amazon Files that show this censorship operation targets not only online speech but also books.

Liberty First Daily Briefing

On June 21, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who heads the House Judiciary Committee, published some of the Amazon Files – part 3, in fact – including internal company communications and a list of books the company tagged as “do not promote [DNP].”

In one of these internal emails, an unidentified (name redacted) Amazon employee explains why he or she created a “new DNP class” for books critical of vaccines or Big Pharma. “The impetus for this request is criticism from the Biden administration about sensitive books we're giving prominent placement to, and should be handled urgently,” the employee states.

Blacklisted Books From the Amazon Files

The Amazon Files reveal that the company drew up an initial list of 43 books that were not to be promoted due to their alleged anti-vaccine content. The list even included children's picture books intended to address the potential bullying of unvaccinated kids by those who had received the jabs -- or vice versa. In one of these books, a young boy asks his mother, “Can I be friends with people that have had their shots?” His mother responds, “Absolutely yes, I would be disappointed in you if not.”

The message of this particular book, then, is clearly harmless and aims to teach children not to alienate each other simply because they are vaccinated – or unvaccinated. According to Jordan, the author says the book “promotes love, understanding, and kindness to everyone.” It’s not an “anti-vaccine” work. Biden administration officials presumably decided it was unacceptable to tell kids that their vaccination status should not be a cause of division or hostility.

Another book on the “do not promote” list is titled The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child. In his post on X, Jordan writes, “There is nothing the Biden Admin and the elites hate more than parents making their own decisions about their children's education, health, and values.”

It wasn't only books containing opinion or advice that were targeted for censorship, though. Some of the books are based on scientific papers or questioned the motives of pharmaceutical companies funding vaccine research. One of these forbidden books is Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies: 400 Important Scientific Papers Summarized for Parents and Researchers.

So, the censorship revealed by the Amazon Files was not just about suppressing “misinformation” or “disinformation,” it seems. The larger agenda appears to be one of quashing any views or information about vaccines the Biden administration did not wish the public to see – even that which was based on legitimate scientific study.

The Twitter Files, the Amazon Files, government officials demanding that private companies censor free speech. It’s not a good look for an administration that claims to be defending freedom and democracy. Jordan vows that the Judiciary Committee and its Weaponization subcommittee “will continue this critical investigative work to further inform legislative solutions to dismantle the Biden Administration’s censorship regime.”
