While all the members of American Pravda are breathlessly reporting on the mysterious cloak and dagger meeting in the Seychelles of Eric Prince and a Russian official close to Vladimir Putin and ignoring the story of former National Security Advisor Susan Rice – a funny thing happened. It seems some real news actually occurred, though you’d never know it if you only read the leftist rags and crazy cable outlets.
Buried deep within the bowels of the 24/7 news cycle and all the hoopla and horse race is the startling newsflash that illegal immigration has precipitously dropped in these United States.
Now there’s some real information, folks. Yes, the kind you used to get that was based on facts and figures. The type that the establishment media doesn’t report any longer because they are way too busy digging for dirt that will further their narrative that the Trump Administration is simply a shadow government brought to you by those sneaky Russians.
It’s too bad they haven’t noticed that in the month of March illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexican border tumbled down by 67% compared to last year. That’s not a typo. Those are the figures told to Congress by David Aguilar, a former chief of the Border Patrol and former acting commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The Washington Times reported that Aguilar released this figure in a statement to the Senate Homeland Security Committee Tuesday, April 4th. Though Customs and Border Protection have not yet confirmed the figures, a number anywhere near this projection by Aguilar would be nothing short of staggering.
The 67% percent is greater than the figures for February which showed a 40% drop in illegal immigration along the U.S. southern border. These numbers indicate that the Trump Administration’s early actions to beef up security as well as give border agents the power to do their job is influencing the number of illegals willing to take a chance on an unlawful crossing.
Thus far, the 45th President has proven that he’s not so much of an ideologue as he is a pragmatist. The simple measures of being willing to empower Border Patrol Agents and warning illegals that they are not welcome has shown tangible results. And it harkens back to a time when president’s words meant something.
January 26, 1900, President Theodore Roosevelt wrote a letter to Henry Sprague where he coined his trademark foreign policy, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” While one would be hard-pressed to say that our current president speaks softly, he certainly does know how to wield that stick that Teddy spoke of so eloquently.
Perhaps this will be a portent of things to come. Who knows if a massive wall will even become necessary if those to our south fear President Trump’s verbal baton. Now there, folks, is some real news to consider. Too bad the big boys of the establishment media won’t bother to let you know.
