Even before former President Donald Trump scored an emphatic victory in the Iowa caucuses, the left-wing media shifted Trump Derangement Syndrome into overdrive. Unable to effectively defend the record of the current chief executive and with no great achievements to tout – because there have been none – President Joe Biden’s loyal cadre of pseudo-journalists is going all in on the anti-Trump narrative du jour, namely, that the man practically intends to establish a dictatorship the moment he sets foot back inside the White House, along with all the horrors such an insane idea would bring.
During the four years he spent at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Trump did nothing to indicate – to any reasonable and fair observer – that he intended to establish a dictatorship in America. None of his many and very vocal critics were censored or punished. He did not use federal agencies to target his political opponents, nor did he use law enforcement or military units to crush dissent. Additionally, when the time came, he did nothing to prevent Americans from voting. These are all things a tyrant or would-be dictator would have done.
The reality of the Trump years is that no sane people reasonably feared for their life or their freedom because they spoke out against the president. Still, that hasn’t stopped leftists from publishing all kinds of over-dramatic fiction that focuses on Trump’s imagined intentions.
The Trump Horror Story Hour

One such article, published on the NBC News website on Jan. 14, was titled “Fears grow that Trump will use the military in ‘dictatorial ways’ if he returns to the White House.” Among whom are these fears supposedly growing? Among “those who understand the inner workings of the Pentagon” – in other words, operatives of the Deep State. Those people certainly have reason to fear Trump, though not because he might try to establish a dictatorship so much as because he is a threat to the very existence of this loosely formed cabal of intelligence operatives that worked against him constantly from the moment that he became president. Indeed, the same federal government bureaucrats, consultants, officers, and politicians have continued to try to destroy him since his time in office expired.
The article reveals that “a loose-knit network of public interest groups and lawmakers is quietly devising plans to try to foil any efforts to expand presidential power …” An admission, then, that once again a cabal of statists will work tirelessly to sabotage a US president from day one.
No one should be fooled by the bogus claim that these people want to prevent “any efforts to expand presidential power.” In 2019, Trump was impeached for lawfully exercising his presidential power. He spoke with a foreign leader on the phone and suggested to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he investigate possible corruption within his country that might involve US citizens – namely, Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Subsequent congressional inquiries have established that Trump might have been on to something. In any case, Trump’s conversation with Zelensky was not in any way outside the authority of a president.
In the minds of Democrats and other leftists, Trump was abusing his authority by doing anything as president because his entire presidency was illegitimate – a word frequently used by Democratic politicians and others on the left to describe Trump’s White House tenure.
The harsh truth is that Democrats and Deep State cronies wanted revenge against Trump – and still do – for winning the 2016 election and denying them their anointed establishment champion, Hillary Clinton.
Skye Perryman, the president of Democracy Forward, which is a part of the above-mentioned “loose-knit network of public interest groups,” laid out the strategy. “We are preparing for litigation and preparing to use every tool in the toolbox that our democracy provides to provide the American people an ability to fight back,” she said. The administration of 2017-2021 was sued more than 100 times by this ultra-progressive group that was founded specifically to sabotage the Trump presidency.
Agents of Chaos on the Left
While Joe Biden has not yet gone as far as deploying armed and uniformed personnel against his detractors (and that’s a debatable point, considering how FBI SWAT teams have been used against Trump associates), he has, in one way or another, taken all the other tyrannical actions listed earlier. His Justice Department, from behind the human shield of sorts that is Special Counsel Jack Smith, is stretching legal definitions to at least tarnish Trump in the eyes of the voters and at worst to criminally convict him. At the same time, Biden allies in positions of power across the country are attempting to prevent the 45th president’s name from appearing on ballots.
Literally, they are trying to claim he is not eligible to run for office based on an extremely dubious interpretation of the 14th Amendment. In effect, that is the same as preventing Americans from voting – since these people would be eliminating from contention the preferred choice of a large percentage of the voting population.
Trump’s previous four years in the White House have frequently been described by his critics as chaotic. There is a lot of truth to this, but most of the chaos stemmed from the work of groups like Democracy Forward and their Democrat allies in Congress to oppose and resist every action Trump took. The welfare of the nation seemed a far lower priority than the destruction of a president and an administration they loathed.
The same people are preparing to do it all over again. To justify what will doubtless be four years of political, legal, and possibly physical carnage, should Trump prevail in November, his enemies must sow the seeds of justification for their actions in advance. The most effective way to do that, in their eyes, is to paint him as some kind of demonic totalitarian who will plunge America into a darkness even George Orwell could not have imagined.
For those who truly worry about the end of America as a strong, stable, prosperous, and free country, there is one critical question to be asked: Will the very people who cannot control their hatred of Trump stop short of destroying America entirely in their crusade against him?
