Democrats Make Parkland Victims Pawns

by | Feb 21, 2018 | The Left

This week tragedy struck in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  A 19-year-old deranged person shot and killed 17 people. He was a former student with several discipline issues. The problems were so prolific at home that the Broward County Sheriff Office was called to his house 39 times over the past seven years. Democrats immediately began to call for “something to happen,” “more background checks,” and more “gun control.” The most egregious part, politically, is the Democrats seizing the emotions of families who just lost their children in a mass shooting, trying to score political points.

The day after the attack, a candlelight vigil was held in Parkland. Political wizard Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, a Democrat from Florida, spoke at this event. She offered a few condolences to grief-stricken families. However, it didn’t take long before she moved into politics. She said that “we must hold other people’s elected officials accountable” so that “no one’s families ever have to go through this again.”

No New Ideas

So far, Democrats haven’t offered up any new ideas on how to prevent another shooting. They call for more gun control and background checks, which is nothing new. There are a couple of problems with their far too typical response. One, the high school was a gun control, gun-free zone already. Two, a background check was completed on Cruz when he legally purchased the rifle.

As her speech continued, she worked the crowd into a “no more guns” chant. This was not the time for politics. These are people whose loved ones were murdered by a selfish maniac, yet the most Wasserman-Schultz can do is work the crowd to score political points. I doubt these politicians calling for more gun control know any of the victims or their families. I hope I am not the only who sees their true intentions.

Wasserman-Schultz and the rest of the Democrat party are taking advantage of parents, siblings and emotionally distraught young teenagers. Democrats and the leftist media are using lamenting people as pawns for their own political gain.

Follow the track record

Despite what Democrats say, look at what they do. Their playbook has a chapter in it that is based on emotions. Look past their emotional theater and you will see Democrats really don’t care about the victims. All you have to do is look at how they treat Chicago and other large similar cities.

Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Detroit and New York City are known for their restrictive gun laws. These are liberal cities where Democrats have had a stronghold for many years. They have enacted gun control laws, yet gun violence continues to soar. Despite all of these laws, none have helped. But Democrats refuse to acknowledge what they have done has not only failed to solve but actually proliferated gun crime. If Democrat politicians really cared about the citizens, they would move in another direction. However, Democrats ignore these cities because they would have to admit their policies have failed.

Votes in the Bag

Furthermore, they have the votes of the aforementioned cities locked in at every level of government. Simply put, the voters are already a guaranteed vote at the ballot box. This is all that matters to Democrats.

In the 2016 General Election, Florida was a highly contested state with President Trump winning by 114,455 votes. Since Hillary Clinton failed to win the state, Democrats are looking for any way to get the 29 electoral votes it provides. They are using the guise of compassion to give a political speech to heartbroken families in an attempt to gain votes.

If you don’t think this shooting is seen by Democrats as an opportunity to politic for the 2018 midterms, you have been fooled. Maybe, the victim’s families see through the charade of the Democrat Party… maybe not. But hopefully, the families realize they are nameless faces to Democrats who are simply looking for votes.
