Deep State Deadly Serious in Bugging Trump

by | Oct 10, 2018 | Articles, Deep State, Politics

That supposed reprieve enjoyed by Rod Rosenstein after President Trump declared on Oct. 8 that he had no plans to fire the deputy attorney general sure didn’t last long. Rosenstein finds himself in more boiling hot water, as a congressional inquiry awaits him.

The Hill’s John Solomon quotes sources who say former FBI General Counsel James Baker believed Rosenstein’s remarks to bureau officials on secretly recording the president and using the audio to get Cabinet officials to remove Trump from office were sincere.

“As far as Baker was concerned, this was a real plan being discussed,” Solomon reports a source “directly familiar with the congressional investigation,” told him. “It was no laughing matter for the FBI.”

A Real Thing

Baker, in closed-door testimony to Congress on October 3, detailed his interactions with FBI officials present when Rosenstein made his comments, The Washington Examiner’s Byron York reports.

“The thing that struck me the most was the serious look on Baker’s face when he was describing it…. He was conveying that they [FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and FBI lawyer Lisa Page] took it seriously, and because they took it seriously, he took it seriously.”

“McCabe, Page, and Baker were talking about [secretly recording Trump] as a real thing, and discussing it as a serious issue,” a second source told York.

It seems logical to conclude that the Rosenstein coup remarks – for that is exactly what they were – being taken seriously by an FBI serving under his auspices in investigating Trump over ridiculous fictitious Russia ties are a big part of what lawmakers found so “explosive” about Baker’s testimony.

“Some of the things that were shared were explosive in nature,” Rep. Mark Meadows(R-NC) told Fox News after Baker’s deposition. “This witness confirmed that things were done in an abnormal fashion. That’s extremely troubling.”

Mueller Madness

In light of all this Deep State dirt finally being exposed to sunlight, it will be entertaining to watch Russia Probe zealots continue to defend the legitimacy of such a thoroughly tainted investigation. It should surprise no one that the ludicrously biased New York Times is providing a platform to those already spinning Rosenstein’s likely eventual exit as having no impact on the probe.

In a piece refreshingly labeled “opinion” and not passed off as hard news, former FBI agent Asha Rangappa says special counsel Robert Mueller’s ridiculous investigation will go on – because the FBI will insist that it does!

Rod Rosenstein

In the course of an article that laughably asserts that the Mueller probe can’t be closed down because the FBI can’t be controlled once it starts investigating something, Rangappa drops a real howler on Rosenstein:

“[W]hile it’s true that his departure would have been cause for worry for those who seek to protect the independence and integrity of Mr. Mueller’s investigation …”

Unreal. This is how the FBI sees itself. The deputy attorney general of a Justice Department that houses the agency tells highly-placed bureau personnel that he can secretly record the president and then use those recordings to destroy him. The FBI takes this conversation dead seriously as it goes on investigating the president. And an ex-FBI agent’s take on all this is that firing the DOJ official involved would violate the “independence” and “integrity” of an FBI investigation!

This is not mere stupidity. This is the level of arrogance at which the Deep State operates. When it is said that they act like they are above the law, this is what that means.

“You walk away from the Baker interview with little doubt that the FBI leadership in that 2016-17 time frame saw itself as far more than a neutral investigative agency but actually as a force to stop Trump’s election before it happened and then maybe reversing it after the election was over,” a source close to the congressional investigation told Solomon.

When this tangled Rosenstein web is finally unraveled, it should reveal in stark colors the true nature of the investigative circus he personally nurtured for so long. What precise role did the farcical Mueller probe play in “a real plan” to take down President Trump?
