BREAKING: Michigan Church Shooting Leaves At Least 1 Dead, 9 Wounded

At least one person has been killed and nine others wounded in a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, MI. The gunman reportedly rammed his vehicle through the front of the church during service, then began firing into the church and set a fire.

Officers traded gunfire with the shooter – identified as a 40-year-old Michigan man – and killed him. Authorities expect to find more victims once the building is safe to enter and a full search can be carried out. Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye said there were hundreds of people in attendance when the church was attacked.

The FBI has deployed 100 agents to the area to help gather statements from witnesses, and the police plan to search the shooter’s house. The motive, thus far, remains unknown, but officers hope to discover some clues during their search.

“The Church is in communication with local law enforcement as the investigation continues and as we receive updates on the condition of those affected,” church spokesperson Doug Anderson said in a statement. “We offer thanks to the emergency responders who are assisting victims and families. Places of worship are meant to be sanctuaries of peacemaking, prayer and connection. We pray for peace and healing for all involved.”
