Someone in the White House has a brain in his head, and that would be the man or woman who keeps sending POTUS 45 out into the public square. This week President Trump spoke to his people in Louisville, Kentucky for another delicious barn-burner to rally his troops to his America First doctrine.
These little side shows serve two purposes: one, they force the establishment media to go out among the American people and see widespread support for the President and his agenda, and two, it gets The Donald out of the swamp and into main street America to keep him on point when he goes back to Washington to battle the swamp-dwellers.
In his usual wide-ranging, on-and-off-the-prompter style, Trump whipped up the crowd by going backward in time (They said there was no path to 270 electoral votes!) as well as forward to close the deal on the new healthcare bill in front of lawmakers this week. He even found time to take a shot at San Francisco 49’ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick during his speech:
President Trump’s underlying message is always “power to the people, ” and the people in Louisville couldn’t get enough of it. In an unusual move, FOX News at least managed to show a rare wide shot that gave viewers at home a brief look at the veritable throng of people who came to hear what the president had to say about the state of the nation as well as his legislative priorities. Even the often disparaging Washington Post had to report that the packed house was well-timed to take the wind out of the sails of FBI Director James Comey’s testimony in D.C. regarding the Trump Campaign-Russian connection:
Trump’s appearance here — in a packed arena known as Freedom Hall that has a stated capacity of more than 18,000 — came on a day in Washington dominated by testimony from FBI Director James B. Comey that undercut Trump’s contention that his predecessor had wiretapped Trump Tower during the election.
The American people, by virtue of the elite establishment media, are fed a steady diet of all things critical regarding Trump, his policies and even his power and authority as President of the United States. These types of events serve to remind them – and us – why Trump was elected, by whom and for what purpose. The President can only help himself should he continue such forays into the cities and towns that elected him.
The Louisville rally confirms that the president will persist in his signature stream-of-consciousness style and his bearing as the anti-politician. So even if he wasn’t president, viewers should still be able to enjoy his speeches to the faithful – the same way they’d enjoy any good stand-up routine.
