Remember that “big, beautiful wall” that President Trump promised America he would build to protect our nation? Nary a word has been writ of the planned deterrent to illegal immigration and trafficking since the virus of the century, COVID-19, blew through the country like a twister in Tornado Alley. But the work has quietly progressed, and the president is on his way to Yuma, AZ, to celebrate a 200-mile completion on Tuesday, June 23.
The White House gave the heads up:
“The President promised to build a strong border wall system and he continues to deliver on his promises. His Administration continues to take bold, decisive action to safeguard our nation. A strong border system also combats the heinous human trafficking and exploitation of children and vulnerable populations by cartels.”
In the wake of activists shutting traffic on freeways to honor George Floyd and violent protesters looting and rioting in the nation’s largest cities, it’s as if no one cares about the border these days.
But the president does care, and he is reminding folks heading toward a pivotal election what is at stake.
Briefing in Yuma
The presidential visit includes a border wall tour and briefing, emphasizing his goal to complete 400 miles before Election Day. On the agenda is the progress of overall wall construction on the southwest border. The 210 feet under presidential review replaced inferior barriers and added new developments in places unsecured. The 30-foot steel slats will help U.S. Customs and Border Patrol handle the influx of illegals and possibly deter criminals from crossing once-porous openings.
Just last month Liberty Nation’s Editor-in-Chief Leesa K. Donner reported on the uptick in construction on the “sleek steel” wall and why the sudden push from the administration:
“Stacked coffins, crematoriums running on an industrial scale, and overflowing morgues reveal an entirely different story than Mexican government officials have been peddling about the Coronavirus in Mexico City. The actual death toll in the capital city ‘is five times the published figure,’ according to a Sky News investigative report.
“One wonders if the Trump administration had its ear to the ground in Mexico City and knew the truth behind the lies being told by officials within the Mexican government.”
Regardless of insider knowledge, that wall is seemingly going up lickety-split.
And on to Phoenix
On hand to greet the president in the capital city are Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Representatives Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, all Republicans. But Missouri Governor Mike Parson (R), Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC), and Representative Jody Hice (R-GA) are the dignitary list as well.
Trump will speak at a Turning Point Action event at the Dream City Church in Phoenix. Turning Point rented the facility for the theme of the day, “An Address to Young Americans.” Church administrators say they “prayerfully considered and then agreed” to the Trump event. Perhaps that was before they heard that Donald Trump Jr. would be a speaker along with his father.
Phoenix and other parts of the state have witnessed an increase of COVID-19 cases after tentatively reopening. Mask mandates are now in place in most Arizona towns and cities and expected to be strictly adhered to where large gatherings are taking place. For apparent liability reasons, the church venue claims it has installed a system that kills 99% of all germs and will have vats of hand sanitizer in every available nook and cranny.
But attendees also are required to sign a waiver, excusing the church for any cooties spread through contact. One cannot be too safe in the time of Coronavirus. It is unsure whether protesters will brave the Yuma and Phoenix summer heat to heckle and wail about the latest perceived injustice, but Trump et al. will bully right through the nonsense and get the job done. Button your bonnets, Phoenicians, the president arrives soon enough.
