The Bizarre Immigrant Family Reunification Mess

Those on the political left got their way regarding the separation of families at the U.S.-Mexican border, but not all is well in what appears to be a messy reunification process. With less than a handful of days remaining to comply with an order that brings illegal immigrant parents and their children together, progress is being been made. However, it’s also opened a big, fat can of worms.

In deference to the progressive howling, President Trump stopped the separation of illegal immigrant families on June 20. U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw seems pleased with government efforts to reunite families who had been separated at the border after putting the hammer down last month. “I’m very impressed with the effort being made,” said the San Diego-based judge this week.

According to Reuters, 450 children aged five and older have been reunited with their parents. Those families with children younger than five were unified earlier on.

Waiving Reunification

But there are 229 parents that either “waived” reunification or have criminal records. Waiving means they choose not to get their children back. What birth parent would not want to see their child again? Could it be that the kids were not theirs in the first place? Are they getting paid to smuggle these kids across the border? This kind of questionable behavior on the part of “parents” sounds a bit fishy.

Then there are those with criminal records. Surprise, surprise. As conservatives know well, Mexico and environs south of the border don’t always send their best and brightest. In fact, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), upwards of 850 of these “parents” are “facing final deportation orders.”

But Judge Sabraw has put a halt to sending these folks back until they can get their hands on a U.S. lawyer to defend them. Is there anything else we can get them, Judge, like public housing or a double whip, decaf, Mocha Grande from Starbucks?

Indeed, the bleeding hearts on the left are turning somersaults to keep illegals in the country and making sure they get “due process” to keep them from being shipped out. By all means, let’s make every effort to keep illegal criminals here. We don’t have enough of them in the U.S.  Where’s the common sense, dear readers?

ICE Supplies Immigrant Jewelry

There does appear to be some logic permitted in this whole morass, at least on the side of the government. According to PolitiFact, ICE is releasing families into the U.S. but not before they are supplied with ankle bracelets. This way they can be tracked and will have to show up at their immigration proceedings.

You mean they wouldn’t just appear in court of their own accord? Shocking.

As well, Kirstjen Nielsen, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary, insists her agency will not be cutting corners to comply with the San Diego judge. Nielsen doesn’t seem like the type to be pushed around, despite constant public harassment by The Resistance.

It appears that illegal immigration has become the great taffy pull in America. Forget the tired and poor huddled masses yearning to be free. No, what we need more of are criminals, drug dealers and “fake parents.”

Yeah, that’s the ticket.
