Sweden is the gift that keeps on giving. Just when you think the Scandinavian nation cannot manage even more extreme progressive politics, it produces just that.
Sweden has one of the most pro-migrant policies in the world, with lax borders and generous welfare benefits. Consequently, when millions of largely male economic migrants of military age flooded Europe in 2015, 162,000 of them wandered across half of Europe, turning down asylum in every country they passed through, to get to this promised land.
Sweden’s refugee capacity was overwhelmed completely, and even several years later the country still struggles to find homes for them. The problem is so acute that politicians are proposing drastic measures.
According to Swedish political blogger Katerina Janouch, leader of the leftist Green Party and member of the Swedish parliament Maria Ferm-Svensson recently created a petition for the appropriation of Swedish homes for refugees. The text should send chills down your spine:
Refugees SHALL have a right to an apartment, or a villa if they have many children.
Swedish counties must start buying homes for all the poor refugees.
Until taxpayer money is budgeted for this purpose, the counties SHALL be able to evacuate by force Swedes who have too big houses, for instance where the children have moved from home, or where one of the partners in a marriage has an apartment of their own.
We must help the new arrivals with a worthy place to live.
SAY NO TO TENT CAMPS.
Due to massive protests, the petition was quickly taken down, but not before someone managed to take a screenshot. While there is no official confirmation about the existence of the petition, it is not the first time that self-abrogating countries have initiated expropriation of native homes to house illegal migrants. In Germany, the city council of Hamburg expropriated six homes for such a purpose in 2017.Annie Lööf
Swedish authorities are already buying up housing for the huge number of migrants. Lomma county, for instance, is planning to buy a hotel for $1.8 million to accommodate the flood of Third World migrants.
If you think that this is an anomaly, you are gravely mistaken. In a recently surfaced interview from 2011 shared virally on social media, leader of the Center Party Annie Lööf made such an outlandish statement that even browbeaten Swedes temporarily woke up from their cultural death spiral and reacted harshly. In an interview on Swedish National Television (SVT), the interviewer pushed Lööf on her party’s migration program, which indicated that Sweden should be a “settler nation” for migrants.
When pushed on exactly how many “settlers” the Center Party was willing to allow into a country of only nine million, she admitted that it was open to 30 million migrants, rendering the Swedes a tiny minority in their native land.
…suicidal progressivism seen across Europe…
Shocked by her answer, the interviewer asked, “But what about the Swedish native population?” Lööf then strongly rejected the notion of the existence of native Swedes. She believed that a person who arrived yesterday from anywhere in the world is just as much of a Swede as the people whose ancestors have lived in and defended the country for thousands of years, since the end of the Ice Age.
Although this interview was done before the migrant crisis of 2015, and Swedes have cooled significantly on the open borders rhetoric since then, the Center Party is still on board with pro-migration policies, as is much of the political elite. Lööf is one of the key figures in Swedish politics and could be the next prime minister.
Sweden is British author Douglas Murray’s primary example of the suicidal progressivism seen across Europe in his best-selling book The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam. He makes the point that many Europeans are so afraid of being called racist that they are willing to let the original inhabitants die out and leave Europe to other cultures, particularly Islam.
However, as Europe is under threat, human rights activists like the Nobel Laureate Dalai Lama are coming to the defense of the West. Within Europe, there is also a growing resistance to the deconstruction of Western culture and people. While the U.N. is working actively to increase the flow of migrants into Europe, many nations are saying no. However, progressive pioneers Sweden and Germany may be too far gone to save. Will Swedes rise to defend their heritage, or will they be the first European nation to fall to progressivism? Only time will tell.
