Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report into the investigation of President Donald Trump has been released. Let the battle commence. As thousands upon thousands of legacy media hacks across the country begin plotting how to spin a report that has been two years in the making, it is well worth looking at some of the key facts in Mueller’s 198 (Volume I) and 184 (Volume II)-page tome (minus the appendix).
For those who saw AG William Barr’s press conference earlier, or read Liberty Nation’s breaking coverage of it, there will be very few immediate surprises. Yet there are still elements of the report that will keep the smoke signals flying despite making it very clear that Trump neither conspired with the Russians nor sought to obstruct the investigation.
Key Findings
The two main elements of this whole report are that:
- Neither President Trump, nor any member of his campaign conspired or colluded with the Russian government to interfere with the U.S. election.
- Based on the various elements and accusation against the president and his obstructing of the investigation, there is no evidence that would require further action.
Whether or not this will give hopeful 2020 Democrats pause for thought in what can be considered tantamount to a bloodless coup remains to be seen, but what is certain is that the media spin machine will begin working overtime to try and mitigate what is essentially a complete vindication of the president by the Mueller Report as communicated to the American people by AG Barr.
The language of the report is clear, concise, and surprisingly non-partisan. It lays out the process of the investigation, the paths that were followed and the conclusions that were ultimately drawn.
The Comey Firing?
One of the aspects that have been anticipated with salivating jaws, is the firing of James Comey and the president’s intent as it relates to the obstruction of justice.
“The evidence does not establish that the president asked or directed intelligence agency leaders to stop or interfere with the FBI’s Russian investigation, and the president told Comey that if some satellite was involved in Russian election interference, it would be good to find that out.”
For the last year and a half, we have been hearing that Trump supposedly approached high-ranking officials to get them to intervene in the investigation. This report shows conclusively that these accusations were little more than either pure fake news or harmful lies intended to damage the presidency.
The Final Grasping Straw
Much of the report appears to back up President Trump’s claims of full vindication, but there is one area that will keep the advocacy media spewing out more of their vitriolic anger: Mueller’s refusal to exonerate.
“Because we determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgment, we did not draw ultimate conclusions about the president’s conduct. The evidence we obtained about the Presidents’ actions and intent presents difficult issues that would need to be resolved if we were making a traditional prosecutorial judgment.”
The conclusion continues:
“At the same time, if we have confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”
