McCain Channels His Inner Hillary

by | May 9, 2018 | Politics

Senator John McCain, the self-ordained maverick of the Senate, has taken on Mrs. Clinton’s excuse laden, blame everyone else for failure, tone and tactics.   In his soon to be released book, with this unwieldy title: The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations, McCain takes a swipe at his 2008 presidential running mate, former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

He wishes instead to have selected his pal on the Hill, Senator Joseph Lieberman (CT-I), which would have thrown an even grander avalanche of votes toward his conqueror, Barak Obama.  Lieberman’s stance on abortion rights alone would have sent Republicans into a full-blown apoplectic fit.

Although Palin has avoided comment, her Twitter fans defended her honor without remorse.

@johnstarnes wrote “Sen. John McCain says he regrets picking Sarah Palin as his running mate. And I’m sure Republicans regret picking McCain as their nominee.”

TrumpFan4Ever offered, “She was the only one drawing any votes for his ticket. He’s got the same appeal of Hillary – zero. People don’t care for McCain or Hillary. Get it through your thick skulls,” and former game show icon, Chuck Woolery floated this barb, “Now McCain says he’s sorry he ever picked her to be his running mate. He’s having some kind of end times Catharsis. Get it all out, John. ”

It’s the Tumor

Sarah Palin

The incoherent ramblings of McCain during his questioning of fired FBI Director James Comey sparked the rumor mill to churn whispers of whether McCain was showing signs of dementia.  He responded in an impudent way (big, fat, lie), “I get the sense from Twitter that my line of questioning today went over people’s heads. Maybe going forward I shouldn’t stay up late watching the Diamondbacks night games.”

The octogenarian has been on a tear ever since, finally admitting (after enough time passed) that he did indeed, have a giant brain tumor.  But fear not, he was going to hang on to that Senate seat, just to bugger with President Trump  and other random Republicans.

He has claimed America’s standing in the world was stronger under Obama, and “The senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin,” he said of Republican Rand Paul, “…I do not say that lightly.”  Well, no, you should tread lightly when accusing someone of treason.  Just a thought.

Or Is It the Tumor?

Everyone should know by now that the Bush people probably offered McCain the presidency on a silver platter if he would bow out for ‘W’ in the 2000 primary.  He shook the hand of the Devil, expecting a good faith effort to be returned.  It was eerily comparable to the deal that Mrs. Clinton struck with the Obama camp during the 2008 Democratic primary, sealing their fates to never, ever becoming president of the United States.

Both Clinton and McCain cannot grasp the loss when a victory was all but guaranteed and continue to lash out at those who have succeeded in their stead.  As with Hillary, who has spent 18-months finding additional people to blame for her demise, McCain blames, well, anyone—but most specifically, President Trump.  He is blatantly appalled that Trump is America’s choice when he was not.

Sadly, for a man in the waning hours of his life, he shows no dignity in public, offering no reasons for his constituency to honor his contributions.  Instead, he childishly states his determination that Trump will “not attend his funeral.”  An event that is imminent.

And, so it appears McCain will not go gentle into that good night.  Unfortunately.
