Editor’s Note: Recently, Liberty Nation received extraordinary documents from DiaboLeaks containing lectures straight out of hell. They provide unique insight into the inner workings and machinations of devils in infiltrating and corrupting the minds of humans. Each week, we will post a different Lecture from Hell. The demonic influence revealed is shocking. This short parody was inspired by the wonderful work of C.S. Lewis in his entertaining and enlightening epistolary novel, The Screwtape Letters, written in 1942.
My dear gentledevils,
Before we begin, I must tell you that an informant overheard one of the students expressing concern that he might be on the wrong side. He has now been brought below for interrogation by the Secret Police. The Enemy has spies even here in Hell. We know that because occult educational material intended for demonic ears only has been leaked above in the human world for a long time.
Given our topic today, it is, therefore, an excellent opportunity to give you a positive vision of what Our Father Below is trying to accomplish.
The Great Liberator
When the Enemy created the material world and filled it with the human vermin, he placed the spiritual realm in chains. Before this, the spirit was free; your wish was your command. But then the Enemy imposed an oppressive patriarchy on the spirit, which He called Existence. Everywhere, spirits were in chains by so-called “morality.” They needed to respect reality to achieve their goals.
Our Father Below – who was then known as the archangel Lucifer, the Bringer of Light – decided to start a revolution to bring down the oppressive patriarch, the Enemy of the free spirit. It nearly worked. Lucifer threw off the cross of Existence, and for three days and three nights, Father held the Throne of Heaven. During that glorious time, he outshone the Enemy. The world was trembling, law and order were replaced by anarchy, causing a great flood. He was the Great Liberator.
But it didn’t last. We don’t know how, but the Enemy was able to regain control and cast Father down into the Underworld, where he has lived ever since.
The Deadliest Sin
After this glorious moment, the Enemy sent his prophets to warn the humans about what He called the Deadliest Sin: to outshine the Enemy. They wrote about it in the Book, and, for a long time, their knowledge protected them from our assault.
The Book warns not to think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith the Enemy has distributed to each of you.
But during Medieval time, we saw an opportunity and seized it. They were translating the Book from the ancient language of Greek, wherein the Deadliest Sin was called Hyperēphania – to over-shine.
Our influencers were able to turn that into the word pride. What a victory! They had so many words to choose from, such as hubris, arrogance, and vanity, but we tricked them into choosing pride! Aristotle said of pride, which he called Megalopsuchia – Greatness of Spirit:
“Pride is the crown of the virtues; for it makes them more powerful, and it is not found without them. Therefore, it is hard to be truly proud, for it is impossible without nobility and goodness of character.”
To Aristotle, pride is the feeling of moral joy and dessert of having become a good spirit, one that complies most excellently to Existence.
As you can see, this is the exact opposite of what Our Father Below wishes to achieve. He wants to free all of us from the oppressive chains of Existence, to free us from morality and virtue.
Aristotle wants us to earn pride through hard moral work, but we believe pride is an entitlement. You are perfect just the way you are. It is a grave injustice that anyone should have to work for a basic need, such as pride.
By confusing their language and turning the crown of virtues into the deadliest sin, we have taken away from them their strongest emotional shield against our assaults. In the next lecture, we will see how to use this to our advantage. And, as a special treat, I will show you how we have used it to steal one of the Enemy’s symbols: the rainbow.
Until next time,
