Editor’s Note: Recently, Liberty Nation received extraordinary documents from DiaboLeaks containing lectures straight out of hell. They provide unique insight into the inner workings and machinations of devils in infiltrating and corrupting the minds of humans. Each week, we will post a different Lecture from Hell. The demonic influence revealed is shocking. This short parody was inspired by the wonderful work of C.S. Lewis in his entertaining and enlightening epistolary novel, The Screwtape Letters, written in 1942.
My dear gentledevils,
When the Enemy created the human vermin, He did so in the most perverse manner you can imagine. He created these apelike creatures in His own image. A hybrid being: part flesh, part spirit. What absurd monstrosity! Who in their right mind would do such a thing?
That being said, their hybrid nature makes humans remarkably unaware of their spiritual side. This makes them open to attack, a flaw we have learned to exploit fully. The Enemy has tried to warn them and guide them, but they are dense creatures and often overlook His advice.
In the Book He inspired, He said, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” But the vermin were not able to translate it accurately, and so much of the meaning was lost! One of our elders, Mephistopheles, was instrumental in that error.
In the original Greek, “word” is called “logos,” which also means reason. This double meaning was the Enemy’s way of communicating that people reason with words. Without words, humans cannot think, and they, therefore, cannot understand the language in which all of Creation is written.
Gentledevils, I hope you understand the profound implication of this discovery. Without words, the human is reduced to a beast that can easily be farmed for food. He has no way to protect himself against our onslaught and is reduced to living in a haze of confusion.
A potent method for weakening your patient’s spiritual immune system is, therefore, to steal his words, to reduce his mind to a state of blurry mush. Then you can tell him anything, and he will believe you.
I will give you an excellent example of a word we managed to steal from them. Did you know that in the ancient world, “demon” used to be a neutral word for spirit? In the Dark Ages, one of our talented Influencers was able to guide a mistranslation of the Book from the Greek word “daimon.”
The strategy was to make the humans believe that all spirits are evil and that they, therefore, should reject the spiritual realm. I can see a question forming in your minds. Didn’t I just say in the first lecture that we did not want to bring attention to our existence, that we should hide in the dark? Let that be a valuable lesson for you: We do not mind that the humans believe in evil spirits in an abstract and unspecified way. On the contrary, we encourage it if it makes them reject good spirits. What we do not want them to believe under any circumstances is that demons influence the thoughts that emerge in their minds.
Anyways, the strategy failed. The Enemy had a backup word from another ancient language, namely the Latin “spiritus.” We tried to conflate its meaning with alcohol, but the Enemy has managed to protect the word from our corruption.
The lesson here is twofold. First, the example proves that we can alter the meaning of important words. Second, even when we succeed, cashing in by harvesting souls is difficult.
But we take solace in the fact that we now proudly own the word demon. In our next lecture, we will explore other important words and symbols that we have managed to steal and pervert successfully. I’ll give you a teaser: Happiness.
Until next time,
