Illegal immigration may be a hot topic for politicians running for office, but as Americans, it should be an even greater area of concern. The left is determined to make us an open border country, allowing any and everyone in, no matter their criminal background. That’s why I feel it is important to highlight the serious crimes committed by so many illegal immigrants in this weekly report.

Week of February 1-7

This is not an analysis, but rather a report of the more serious crimes committed by illegal aliens. While there may have been many more, hundreds even, arrests of illegal aliens for simple infractions, here we concentrate only on the most dangerous of offenses.

19 Charged in “Birth Tourism” Scheme

The U.S. Constitution grants citizenship to children born on American soil, and many immigrants take advantage of that so that. Typically, the greatest number of these births originate out of China, and California officials have been cracking down on what is known as birth, or maternity, tourism.

“The 17 cases unsealed on Thursday are the first federal charges brought against operators and customers of birth tourism businesses,” Reuters reported.  Three of the defendants were recently arrested and the prosecution office said the other 16 were “fugitive defendants.” They are accused of  operating three “birth houses” that cater mostly to wealthy Chinese women.

Reportedly, these mothers to be were coached on what to say to U.S. Customs when getting a temporary visa and told to lie to officials, saying they would only be staying for two weeks. Then, the women would overstay their time limit long enough to give birth. To hide the fact that they were pregnant, they were told to wear loose fitting clothing.

“These cases allege a wide array of criminal schemes that sought to defeat our immigration laws – laws that welcome foreign visitors so long as they are truthful about their intentions when entering the country,” U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna said in a statement.

“Some of the wealthy clients of these businesses also showed blatant contempt for the U.S. by ignoring court orders directing them to stay in the country to assist with the investigation and by skipping out on their unpaid hospital bills,” Hanna said.

According to prosecutors, some of the schemes included money laundering and defrauding property owners by leasing houses and apartments for the pregnant women.
