Just a few days into 2026 and Zohran Mamdani’s term as NYC mayor, and already flyover folks have had enough. Then there’s the partisan blowback for the blowing up of cartel drug-running boats and all the saber-rattling between Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and President Donald Trump. But that last issue, at least, was quickly resolved in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Middle America awoke January 3 to find out the US led a military strike blowing up several targets in Caracas and swiping the dictator and his wife to face justice.
Trump Topples a Dictator
Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro was a big talker after Trump came into office. He once brashly, and a tad bit foolhardily, dared the leader of the free world, saying he would meet with him anytime and anywhere. Well, our down-to-business president just sent him an Uber.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi posted: "Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York. Nicolás Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.”
“Way to go damn proud of our military men and women, kick butt and take dictators! Well done, well done,” wrote Robert Meyer of Casper, WY.
Heartlanders were celebrating along with true Venezuelans, and both were shocked by this lawmaker who jumped on board the Trump train for a minute or two. “The capture of the brutal, illegitimate ruler of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who oppressed Venezuela’s people is welcome news for my friends and neighbors who fled his violent, lawless, and disastrous rule,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) posted on X Saturday morning. Joseph McGrath in Dixon, IL, was happy for the crossover of political lines: “Thanks Debbie. Appreciate it. Regardless of political philosophies.”
Aaron White in Waynesville, NC, saw a potential positive outcome to the bipartisan spirit: “You see eventually common sense takes them all over. Look at Fetterman.” Let’s not forget Wasserman Schultz has a large, free, Venezuelan population in her district.
Luz Ivette Santos celebrated in Escanaba, MI: “AMEN. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP. ¡VIVA LA LIBERTAD, CARAJO!”
But Victor Pisano brought the house down with: “José can you see, by the Don’s early light?!”
Walz and the Somali Invasion
Folks in the Gopher State are wondering how the Walleye of Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz, is gonna flip-flop his way out of being held responsible for billions of tax dollars fraudulently used by the Somali population. Calls for the governor’s resignation mount, but the man is as persistent as Hillary Clinton.
YouTube influencer Nick Shirley set the Gopher State governor into panic mode after posting his viral videos of daycare and childcare centers with hundreds of enrollees absolutely empty. Women in burkas would not answer questions, and Shirley exposed the hundreds of millions financing these child-free zones. Of course, the Somalis are serious about their childcare LEARING center.
But it gets worse. Imagine that. Minnesota has direct ties to a nonprofit at the center of a $300 million scam, Feed the Children. That got the ire up of Nancy Toures in Illinois: “300 million. And Seniors get 2 8% COLA. Vote red.”
In Williston, ND, Drew Balogh commented: “I’ll take feeding the children at Somali daycares for 1000, Ken.”
From Kenton Kirkpatrick of Indianapolis: “The Feds should demand a list of all children enrolled in so-called day care programs. Next cross reference all name to see if any enrolled at multiple schools. Last night, someone said ‘if 81% of Somali's are on welfare (i.e., not working), why do they need daycare for their kids?’”
Zohran Mamdani Is No Emily Post
Someone needs to gift the newly anointed mayor of the Big Apple an etiquette book by Emily Post – because right now, she’s tossing in her grave. My favorite tome that seems to befit Mr. Mamdani is How to Behave Though a Debutante.
The Islamic socialist won fair and square but immediately did not share at his victory party of promised “collectivism.” So much for a freebie agenda when the beer is $13, a cheap Riesling at $15 a glass, and espresso martinis at $22. Nothing the right staffer can’t fix moving into 2026. But, oops, he did it again.
Mamdani threw an inaugural party and had people wait outside in frigid temperatures with no food, drink, or bathrooms, stranded behind security restraints. In North Carolina, Anne Pooley went from point A to B: “They collected them into a pen. It’s collectivism.”
