Heartlanders had strident ideas on how to deal with gun-free zones in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the Old Dominion campus. Meanwhile, several states are writing legislation on new gun restrictions. Iran is talking big after the US and Israel pummeled the bejeezus out of the backwards country, and folks are fired up after learning that congressional Democrats voted against working service dogs and their cousins. And finally, just when you need him the most, we say goodbye to Chuck Norris.
Annie, Get Your Gun
Gun-free zones, especially on school campuses, do absolutely nothing in deterring nut-jobs from showing up armed in hopes of a mass casualty situation. In fact, they do just the opposite. With no proficient and armed adults, students are sitting ducks. But legislators in at least eight states are attempting to loosen gun restrictions, at least on college campuses, so folks have a means of self-defense. Florida, Louisiana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming are all considering some sort of legislation that relaxes campus carry laws.
Each bill has its differences, but the gist is to allow adults 18 years and older to carry on campus. George Heil, in Kilgore, TX, reminded: “Shall not be infringed and all that applies.”
In Splendora, TX, Mark Ables referred to the founding documents: “Look it up. It should be easy to find. It's #2 on the list of Amendments. Over 250 years we have had the right to carry. Any law contrary is repugnant.”
Iran Cannot Help It
Iran has had a rough few weeks – from constant surprise bombings and the list of Supreme Leaders seemingly dwindling to cardboard cutouts to Iranian locals celebrating a taste of freedom – well, you can only imagine that a regime that thinks it’s the year 1405 might be depressed. Tehran is staying feisty and furious, though. The country’s top military spokesman warned that “parks, recreational areas and tourist destinations” worldwide won’t be safe.
Making enemies of the world, except those ruled by Sharia law and Supreme Leaders – which Iran seems to have an unlimited list of people waiting in line for – cannot be a good strategy. But the new Supreme Leader, cardboard cutout or real man, is making more threats of rebuilding his nuclear cache. Kerry Dorton in Missouri pondered that threat and asked: “Where they building’em, in their closet?”
In Elwood, KS, Claude Kendall commented: “Well, at least they're saying it out loud now. They aren’t even trying to be peaceful.”
“Thanks for the heads up, but where’re you gonna hide?” asked Tony Estrada in Sylvania, OH. Adding, “Careful with that beeper.”

Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) has sponsored a bill to add an extra layer of protection to working dogs in the US. The bill comes after an Egyptian national kicked and injured a US Customs and Border Protection dog. Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie pleaded guilty to kicking and wounding a beagle called Freddie at Washington-Dulles International. A beagle can track a McDonald’s wrapper four days after some litterbug tossed it out, and Freddie alerted to potential contraband in Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie’s bag.
It's called the Bill to Outlaw Wounding of Official Working Animals Act, and it would make a non-citizen of the United States who is “convicted of, or who admits to having committed, an offense related to harming animals used in law enforcement” deportable.
Republicans, along with 15 Democrats, voted in favor of the bill. A hundred and ninety Democrats, however, opposed it.
Shelley Buer, in Ohio, asked: “Does it surprise anyone? They won't deport them for assault on Americans.”
“Harming a law enforcement working animal is appalling and evil,” Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) posted on X. “As a dog lover and someone who adamantly supports the working dogs who have served on the front lines, voting in favor of this bill was one of the easiest decisions of my congressional career.”
And this Good Ole Boy in Martinsburg, WV, Jeremy Smith, emphatically stated: “One of many countless reasons why I will never ever ever vote Democrat.”
Tim Musa of Villa Park, IL, asked: “Isn’t that a window into the soul of who a person really is?” The short answer, Tim, is yes.

Americans will miss this conservative icon, but let’s be real: Chuck Norris didn’t meet God – God requested a meeting with Chuck Norris. RIP 1940-2026.
