The Senate on Feb. 12 confirmed Tulsi Gabbard to head the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in a party-line 52-48 vote. In recent days, Gabbard, who was always seen as one of the most vulnerable of President Trump's nominees, secured the support of Republican skeptics but Democrats made it known even before the vote that none of them would support Gabbard's nomination. Two Independent senators who caucus with Democrats also opposed the nomination.
