Several news organizations are reporting that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is preparing to leave the government to work for MSNBC. According to the report, no contracts have been signed, and the parties involved are treading carefully to avoid running afoul of government ethics rules regarding the pursuance of private-sector positions while in public office.
While no official channels have yet to confirm that Psaki will be leaving her role, her plans for departure this year were first made public back in May 2021. At that time, she was being interviewed by former Obama administration colleague David Axelrod when she stated, “I think it’s going to be time for somebody else to have this job in a year from now or about a year from now.” She further noted that she wanted to spend more time with her family, saying, “I don’t want to miss moments. I don’t want to miss things and I’m very mindful of that as well.”
