Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest running and most popular weekly column. Capturing the truth each week from heartlanders in flyover states, LN gives voice to the hard-working Americans otherwise ignored by the coastal elites.
It was another exciting week in rural America. Heartlanders squabbled over which Swamp character is worse than the other, wagering on how long Bud Light puts up with hecklers and why one country song became shot fired in the war over being woke. Oh yes, and what the heck was President Joe Biden doing in that sit-down with Israeli President Isaac Herzog?
Put the Shovel Down, Bud Light
The Bud Light brand took another round of social media hits after tweeting this simple message to the United States Women’s National Team (soccer): “Let’s goooooo!” That jaunty little cheer brought back the memory of the disastrous partnership with trans-activist Dylan Mulvaney and created all sorts of questions. For instance, this one from blogger Sean D. Knight: “Oh, you guys know the difference between a man and a woman now?”
One Tweeter reminded Bud Light that these were actual women playing the game, and some wondered if the folks riding the unicorns would prance in and save the day. Then there were additional calls for boycotting the beer that dropped from the top brew served in American bars, taverns, and pubs to a measly number four in popularity.
In Fort Worth, Doug Emerson described why it was time to up the pressure: “Boycotting Budweiser is not some transphobic statement people seem to think it is. The statement is do not try and force acceptance of that lifestyle on normal people (yes, I meant to say that).”
He continued: “We do not have to support their choice and change our language and behavior to suit them. We do not have to agree they are normal and allow them to inflict their perversion on our children. And I am sure their stockholders prefer to make money instead of a statement.” And Big Mac MacRee wondered: “Hasn’t the Trans community stepped up to bail out Bud Light yet?”
That’s a hard “no.”
Woke Infiltration of Country Music
Country music mega-star Jason Aldean was told by the woke nerds at Country Music Television (CMT) they would not play his latest song and video, “Try That in a Small Town.” It’s a compilation of news clips of crimes and lawlessness these past few years in a liberal-run America, and as Aldean explains: “There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it.” As he put it on Twitter, “Try That In A Small Town, for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or beliefs.
“We all have each other’s backs, and we look out for each other,” Aldean continued. For those coastal elites who have never lived in a rural community, that is precisely the case. We all keep a watchful eye on our neighbors and friends.
The CMT treatment spawned a backlash from rural residents — of all party affiliations. One Williamsport, IN, man who voted for Biden and leans left simply stated: “Aldean is exactly right. We won’t stand for that behavior in our town. We protect our own.” By the way, that left leaner has several firearms for protection.
Another country star, Luke Bryan, told CMT he was removing all his video products in solidarity with his pal Aldean. Bryan also told his fans to “BudLight” the channel.
In Medina, OH, this Kent State graduate, Catherine Breda, spoke out: “Love the song. People need to listen to the words. We need to take our country back.”
And Cornhusker Robyn Bohbot said after viewing the video and seeing the woke backlash, “This is one of the reasons why most law-abiding citizens are pissed. Criminals…. Who thinks it is okay to just take and destroy whatever they want.”
Is He Awake?
In a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Joe Biden spent a weird moment mumbling at his lap while his contemporary spoke. It was unintelligible. Some thought he was talking in his sleep; others were speed-dialing the professionals in the white coats. The White House cleared everything right up, saying he was trying to read a cue card. It did not reassure the flyover folks, however, that Biden needed crib notes to talk about Israeli-American relations.
Larry Joe Sandefur, in Buckskin, IN, said it best: “That my friends is the leader of the Free World. Namaste, and God Save the Queen.” Biden may be woke, but is he awake?
