Heartlanders: Where Are We Going and Why Are We in a Handbasket?

The reason for the predicament in which we find ourselves.

Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest-running and most popular weekly column. Capturing the truth each week from heartlanders in Fly Over states, LN gives voice to the hard-working Americans otherwise ignored by coastal elites.

They say politics attract strange bedfellows. Whoever ‘they” are, well, they’re correct. Democrats and progressives of late have sought the attraction of media folks by becoming cartoonish. A Pennsylvania state representative raised his prog-pandering to Expert level. Joe Biden attempted to gloat over the latest jobs report but no one – including CNN – is buying it. And Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), already in deep doo-doo with his fellow Dems, stole the spotlight from a brother by double-face-palming on live television.

What a time to be alive.

After passing a stopgap, short-term bill extending the U.S. debt ceiling until the first week of December, Democrats, led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, gathered round to celebrate the surrender of Republicans abandoning party constituencies. Then, in a speech that was no less self-aggrandizing and insulting to anyone paying attention, Schumer droned on about the fiscal responsibilities of Republican legislators.

The senator spun a tale of doom, had this not been successful, and invoked the disappearance of Social Security, a worldwide economic collapse, and the downgrading of the nation’s credit to further hang the blame on those who fought its passage. Jim Longham of Chicago wondered aloud, “If Biden is president, isn’t our credit already in the basement?” And Edward Lahmann in Greenwood, IN, pointed out the flaw of continual threats to the people: “Why do you always threaten social security when it is not part of the budget it is a retirement account that we the people your employer paid for?”

But Heartlanders rose to cheer as Manchin, during that outrageous Schumer speech, clearly indicated his disgust in full view of the main camera. After the big reveal by Schumer, Manchin was said to have described his fellow Democrat’s remark as “f—ing stupid” and told reporters the circus was “inappropriate.” In St Charles, MO, Kathy Reichert McCoy agreed:

“Biden and Democrats are pushing America over the cliff, and they are very happy about it! Anyone that votes for a Democrat in any election is a certified Lunatic.”

Flyover folks do not like those who take a victory lap unless earned – not stolen from the taxpayers.

Hey Joe?

Mr. Biden is having a time of it lately. Poll numbers are declining, debt ceiling on the rise, the borders are beyond salvageable, and no one can find his number two. But this week, Joe gave us a math lesson: “My Build Back Better Agenda costs zero dollars. So instead of wasting money on tax breaks, loopholes, and tax evasion for big corporations and the wealthy, we can make a once-in-a-generation investment in working America. And it adds zero dollars to the national debt.”

What a bunch of nonsense – and sad math skills to boot. But then the jobs numbers came out and Biden saw salvation enveloping him with success. Economist extraordinaire of Liberty Nation, Andrew Moran, piped up: “The unemployment rate fell to 4.8%, better than the median estimate of 5.1%.” But as Moran says, inflation is rising far more rapidly, which is a net loss in the simplest terms.

Juliette Monroe wonders, “Do they think we buy any of their spiels?”

The Next Generation of Swamp Rats

Politicians and government bureaucrats in Pennsylvania must be trying to clean up after Trump drug election officials through a knothole tail-first over the 2020 election ballot processing. But, scurrying about, one elected official decided to pander for popularity with the progressive non-binary impaired. That man is Democrat Chris Rabb, a self-identifying “rabble-rouser” and a proud father of four children. But he took to Twitter to pontificate over the wayward ways of the great state of Texas and the passage of a controversial abortion bill. In Rabb’s words:

“I will be introducing a bill inspired by @RepKellyCassidy that requires all inseminators to undergo #vasectomies within six weeks of having their third child or 40th birthday, whichever comes first. As long as legislators continue to restrict the #ReproductiveRights of cis women, trans men & non-binary folx, there should be laws to address the responsibility of men who impregnate them!”

I guess father-of-four Rabb is the first “inseminator” in line for a quick neuter. And then you have the man’s inspiration: Illinois state Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D), whose personal self-description on Twitter reads: “Illinois’ lesbian lawmaker, arch-nemesis of the good, the true, & the beautiful & creator of the worst legislation. Beloved by IFI She/her.”

My friends, these are the people driving the Biden administration. And now you know the reason for the predicament in which we find ourselves: heading south – in a handbasket.
