The woman who just last month alleged that former Vice President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her has taken the claim to law enforcement. Tara Reade, several weeks ago, came forward in the media to discuss the alleged assault but has now filed a complaint with Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police – though the statute for this type of crime has long since expired.
Reade gave a graphic accounting of what she recalls transpiring in a U.S. Senate corridor with Biden in 1993. As a young staffer to the then-senator, Reade was told to deliver the man his athletic bag. She did so and found herself alone with Biden. Reade recalls that he called her by her first name – which is not all that uncommon for a small senate staff, but she was new, and it stuck in her mind. As Reason magazine’s Robby Soave wrote, describing Reade’s account of the assault, “There was no exchange really. He just had me up against the wall.” A very disturbing accusation follows. The senator “began kissing her without her permission, pushed her against a wall, reached under her skirt, and penetrated her with his fingers.”
Mr. Biden has not responded to the complaint, but his campaign team was adamant a month ago, issuing this wholesale denial:
“Women have a right to tell their story, and reporters have an obligation to rigorously vet those claims. We encourage them to do so, because these accusations are false.”
But He’s a Democrat
Joe Biden, in public, has set women on edge for decades. From fondling to hair sniffing, the affable presidential candidate continues to give women – whether in close proximity or on the television screen – the full-body willies. Report after report has come to light of the man’s inability to respect personal space with aides, staffers, and other elected officials. At least eight women have come forward to tell how they felt violated and shocked that Mr. Biden would rub their backs, kiss their heads, rub noses, and grab their thighs – often in public.
In private, female Secret Service agents had to deal with Biden parading about and swimming in the nude under their protection. We can only hope he skipped the backstroke, and simply dog paddled his naked butt up and down the lanes.
But Mr. Biden is a Democrat, of course, and so neither CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, nor CBS is covering the story. Imagine that.
The Presumptive Nominee
Biden’s financial backers and the DNC elite are keeping their chosen one sheltered in place, perhaps to avoid letting his fiery temper go unchecked. They may also be concerned with the inappropriate touching of anyone within a few feet, while also pumping the guy full of memory-enhancing Ginko Biloba.
Tara Reade, meanwhile, is discovering that no one cares one whit about her accusations – especially the Democratic Party, that has forgotten the “every woman must be believed” talking point, and the entire #MeToo Movement. But perhaps Reade’s complaint will add a permanent smear to the man who wants to be president, or senator, or King of Siam, depending on what day Mr. Biden is allowed to appear candidly on camera.
