The not-so grassroots left-wing activists who chased Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi out of a movie theater in June were funded by notorious progressive billionaire George Soros. The Daily Caller reports that, according to the Open Society Foundation tax documents they acquired, Soros’ organization gave half a million dollars to Organize Florida, the group responsible for Bondi’s harassment.

What makes this latest unmasking of hefty Soros support for leftist agitators so disturbing is that it went to a group in a state embroiled in election controversy that is headed by a veteran radical who was once a chapter leader of ACORN, the most notorious voter fraud organization of the 21st century.
The Sunshine State, of course, was the focus of national attention during the November midterm elections. Narrow gubernatorial and Senate races were marred by startling irregularities in the conduct of a Democratic election official in populous Broward County. Now-ousted county Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes led an office that had thousands of dead people on voter rolls, allowed felons and noncitizens to vote, and was plagued by other fraud allegations.
The state became a laughingstock for its inability to smoothly conduct the election. The revelation that Soros dropped $500,000 into the lap of an experienced ex-ACORN agent undoubtedly further explains the shenanigans that were afoot in gator land.
Stephanie Porta is listed as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Organize Florida on its official website. Long before the group – which comically says it opposes “powerful, deep-pocketed interests across Florida” even as it pockets the dirty Soros money – came into existence, Porta was the zealous leader of ACORN’s Orlando office in the 2000s.
Scandal-ridden ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) became the poster child for voter fraud at that time, with numerous allegations and charges being made against its chapters across the country. The sleazy group was finally forced to close down after a 2009 undercover video expose by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas in which ACORN personnel were filmed advising O’Keefe, posing as a pimp, on how he could avoid police problems and even claim his underage foreign-trafficked prostitutes as dependents. ACORN’s voter fraud was on full display in Orange County, Fl., home of Orlando, where Porta’s chapter operated. The Orlando Weekly reported in 2008 that “supervisor of elections officials [in the county] found 21 voter applications that ACORN had submitted with the same name. Senior deputy supervisor Linda Tanko couldn’t give an exact number of fake registrations ACORN turned in, but said they were ‘a lot.'”
That’s right, the ACORN office led by the woman who now runs an organization that received half a million dollars from George Soros heading into the 2018 elections was actively engaged in voter fraud.
How It Worked
Organize Florida is listed as an official partner of the Soros-funded Center for Popular Democracy on that group’s website. A thorough 2017 report in the Washington Free Beacon described the Center as spearheading an “$80 million anti-Trump network” formed to “mobilize new voters and fight voter identification laws.” The group planned to “also focus on gerrymandering and automatic voter registration programs with an eye on the 2018 and 2020 election cycles,” the Beacon reported. It goes without saying that all this makes fertile ground for voter fraud.
The Beacon spotlighted how the Center is staffed from stem to stern with former ACORN activists. These alumni of one of the most egregious voter fraud organizations in American history being let loose on the 2018 elections goes a long way to explaining the “amazing” rise of two radical progressive gubernatorial candidates, Stacy Adams in Georgia and Andrew Gillum in Florida.
George Soros
Both geared their campaigns to aggressive new voter registration efforts and an embrace of newly minted immigrants at the same time this vast Soros operation was underway. The fact that they almost won their races shows just how effective Soros and his ex-ACORN agents were in “finding” new votes.
The cherry on this rotten sundae is the fact that Soros is also funding the legal defense for the fired Democratic elections official who supervised all that chaos in Broward County, Fla. Brenda Snipes is suing to get her job back despite a near-universal perception that she is grossly incompetent – or worse.
It’s astonishing what George Soros and his money are unleashing upon the public institutions of this nation. How can one man be allowed to do such grievous damage to our electoral integrity?
