Democrats Losing What’s Left of Their Minds Over Voter ID

The party of perpetual victimization is always howling about something. As the midterm elections draw near, the noise machine is going full tilt over the suggestion of basic requirements to ensure that only actual U.S. citizens are allowed to vote.

“Look, these laws are designed to intimidate,” Obama administration attorney general Loretta Lynch recently shrieked on MSNBC about legislation mandating simple ID requisites for voters. “Restricting early voting is designed to intimidate. The voter ID laws are designed to scare people away from the process.”

Worked up into a self-righteous lather, Lynch babbled, “This has always been about power. It’s always been about who gets to control the life of this country and who gets to determine how we all live our lives. ”

Why, yes, Ms. Lynch. That is what elections do. That is why they are so important and why safeguarding their integrity is paramount.

Register Everybody

Former vice president Joe Biden joined in the chorus, telling CBS “we should have automatic registration” of people in America because “there is no evidence, of all the studies done, of widespread voter fraud. Of that being a central problem in American electoral process. It’s just not true.”

Mr. Biden’s cavalier lack of concern for an authentic vote is of course understandable for a leader of the political party that has never met an illegal alien for whom it didn’t immediately want to roll out the red carpet. Although a new study reveals there may be as many as 30 million illegal aliens in our country today, Biden is telling us not to even bother worrying about scenarios in which his party would clearly benefit from non-eligible persons voting in our elections.

The Honorable Mr. Biden would no doubt also like you to not worry about Democrats mailing non-citizens voter registration forms in which the box confirming U.S. citizenship is pre-checked.  That’s what the Texas Democratic Party is being investigated for at this very moment. Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the problem in an October 18 tweet:

The Public Interest Legal Foundation filed the complaint, and included a signed affidavit from a man who says non-citizen relatives of his received the mailing from the party.

Leave aside the felonious attempt, if confirmed, to defraud the Texas vote for a moment. This is a fine example of the sketchy way Democrats attempt to “boost” voter registration among their targeted base of support. These bogus registrations are then filed with the state, which immediately identifies the most dubious cases and places a “hold” on them. The Democrats then accuse the state of “suppressing” the vote based on these holds that, in the words of Rep. Mark Veasey (D-TX), “disproportionately impact people based on race, gender, age, income, and sexual orientation.” No, they disproportionately impact the garbage registrations Democrats cook up with no regard for their validity at all.

This is exactly what Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has been accused by GOP critics of doing for years. Instead of working to ensure her voter registration drives are properly executed, Abrams has instead played the race card and vilified Republicans as ogres bent on “terrifying” legal voters. And who are these poor “suppressed” voters? Mainly “people of color and women,” according to Abrams. Naturally.

Eroding Our Elections

Back to Biden’s lie. His suave assurance that voter fraud isn’t a real problem simply isn’t true. Rowan Scarborough at The Washington Times reports a study by Old Dominion University professors that found 6.4% of noncitizens voted illegally in the 2008 presidential election.

The ODU analysis concluded that:

“We find that some non-citizens participate in U.S. elections, and that this participation has been large enough to change meaningful election outcomes including Electoral College votes, and Congressional elections. Non-citizen votes likely gave Senate Democrats the pivotal 60th vote needed to overcome filibusters in order to pass health care reform and other Obama administration priorities in the 111th Congress.”

Scarborough also reports that in a 2013 national poll of Hispanic U.S. residents, 13% of noncitizens said they were registered to vote. “Compared to the U.S. census for that year, it could be mean that 800,000 to 2.2 million were registered voters,” Scarborough writes.

President Trump is not deceived about the very real problem illegal voting represents. He tweeted a stern warning on October 20: “All levels of government and Law Enforcement are watching carefully for VOTER FRAUD, including during EARLY VOTING. Cheat at your own peril. Violators will be subject to maximum penalties, both civil and criminal!”

Of course, Democrats will continue to bark at the moon due to the sheer injustice of reasonable efforts to ensure an honest vote until Election Day and beyond. Why should we expect a party that has no regard for this nation’s immigration laws to respect our electoral process?
