Pete Buttigieg: The Leftist Media’s New Golden Boy

Could Mayor Pete actually overtake Joe Biden? It’s a long shot.

by | Oct 19, 2019 | Articles, Politics

Pete Buttigieg might unseat Joe Biden as the top candidate for the Democratic nomination: Is it possible? Yes. Is it plausible? Well, that’s a different story.  With the recent troubles involving Joe Biden and his son’s questionable business dealings with Ukraine, it appears the radical leftist media is reevaluating their protection versus annihilation narrative – and they might be commencing a coup with the Democratic National Committee to push a serious liability out of the running.

Pete Buttigieg

It all became clear after the latest Democratic debate in Ohio.  Although no one candidate dominated the stage, headlines the following morning were crowning the field’s long-shot, and nudging him along as the golden boy to replace Mr. Biden running for “the soul of a nation.”

Believe it or not, South Bend, IN, Mayor Peter Paul Buttigieg is now the anointed one.  How did we arrive here, one might ask?

Pete The Threat

Perhaps the media is just a fickle lover these days, grasping on to the latest sound bite and dumping their first love.  A scant few months ago, all they could talk about was Sen. Kamal Harris (D-CA) – a woman of color, intelligence, and ambition.  We are now at the “Kamala, who?” point in the game.

Mr. Biden, with his silvery smooth talk and blindingly perfect, white teeth, was a fundraising juggernaut – until he was not.  His latest haul is testament to a plan gone awry. He only raised $15.7 million in the third quarter while rivals who were once a distant grouping of also rans, out raised him – by a lot.  Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) amassed $25.3 million, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) piled up $24.7 million, and the jaunty little man from South Bend, Mayor Pete, raised $19.2 million.

Bernie Sanders

Sanders is clearly dominating the donor field, yet the media has nearly gone silent on the frumpy socialist: unless they feel the need to swipe at the man for being one of the most honest in the field.  But let’s face it, the DNC cheated in 2016, fearlessly facing the wrath of Bernie Bros, and they will not hesitate to take him out again.

Pundits and talking heads are all now praising Buttigieg and nearly swooning over embracing an in-your-face style as witnessed at the Buckeye state debate.  Beto O’Rourke was slapped about on gun confiscation, as Pete declared, “I don’t need lessons from you in courage, political or personal.”

He then attacked Warren, chiding that the Matron from Massachusetts has been “more specific and forthcoming about the number of selfies she’s taken” than how she would pay for free programs, citing Medicare for All.

But a threat to Biden?  That is unlikely.  A former Vice President has political chops and connections yet to be dreamed of by challengers.

Will Calmer Heads Prevail

Democratic strategist Eddie Vale assessed the situation emerging and focused on the reality of President Pete:

“If Biden falters, if Buttigieg can pick up his voters, and if he can keep outraising Biden, it’s possible, but there are a lot of ifs still. Buttigieg has gotten a lot of good coverage from this positioning but it’s still an open question of if that will translate into movement in the polls, especially among Biden’s diverse support.”

Despite the Ukrainian albatross around his neck, Joe Biden will continue to fight – and no one, including the fickle media, should discount the bob and weave this political pugilist has perfected over the years.   Despite their wishes, and blatant attempts to sway the American electorate, the media will not select the Democratic candidate any more than they crowned the last president.  Just ask Hillary, who, until the day after the historic 2016 election, believed the media claims that she would win in a landslide.

Biden is popular and will only become more active to regain his lost momentum.  The DNC and their public relations arm, the lame stream media would do well to just report the process, cease fiddling with the narrative, and let the chips fall where they may.

Would they really be so arrogant as to attempt to rig another primary election after the epic disaster of 2016?   Yes, that was a rhetorical question.
