Editor’s Note: While the media and other leftist elites ignore the millions of folks living in “flyover” states, they do so at their own peril; it was this silent majority that put President Trump in the White House. Each week, Liberty Nation gives voice to the hard-working heartlanders who are silent no more.
America experienced a blow out of a week as double standards were slapped in the face of regular Jills and Joes, fans of the King bought surplus ammo, and one scaredy-cat mayor tucked tail and ran for his life.
The Now Infamous Pelosi Blowout
Hair salons in San Francisco have been on California’s official lockdown order since March, and, according to Cheri Gyuro from the Department of Consumer Affairs: “California law requires that all services be performed in a licensed establishment.”
How did Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) not know this tidbit of information considering San Fran is in her district? She claims she didn’t as she waltzed into a salon to have her hair done – sans mask. The owner of the salon was not happy with the stylist who rents a chair from her, calling Pelosi’s Marie Antoinette-like act a “slap in the face.”
Heartlanders were swift in their rebuke. From Kalamazoo, MI, Terry Strong expressed frustration: “So tired of the complete hypocrisy. I can’t wait to hear how this was ok, and why shops are not allowed to be open expect to serve her?” Wichita’s Billie Bailey shed light on feelings common across the heartland: “She is such a snake in the grass. Get her out of office. Turn off her electric – like they have done to others in CA.”
Fancy Nancy was bounced about in conversation after conversation using stings and barbs of the personal sort throughout. As Chicago’s Randy Overton pointed out, “Her hair is the least of her problems.” Palmyra, Michigan’s Doug Dew went straight to character: “Nancy has always been above the law. And beneath dignity.”
And those are just the comments fit to print.
Elvis? What Did He Ever Do to You?
Folks in Memphis are buying ammo off the shelves in a rush after those “peaceful protesters” the Democrats keep telling us about went nutso on Graceland. Yes, the famous residence of the King of rock and roll, the one and only, Elvis Presley. Overnight, the wall for adoring fans to write on was covered in Black Lives Matter slogans and public calls to defund police, and all the rest of the woke garbage that folks think is productive. It only irritated a whole new group of folks.
There was talk of putting blue suede shoes up someone’s rear if vandals were caught. Some invoked another top hit, telling BLM thugs, “Don’t Be Cruel.” And no one could figure out what the heck Elvis did to deserve the ire posthumously. But it was Tom Dreger in Wisconsin who left it all on the table: “I know this song…In the Ghetto, right?”
It seems BLM is headed in that direction, Tom.
Nowhere to Run to Baby
Faced with protesters camping in his condo lobby, the woke, BLM coddling mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, is escaping the monster of his own making. After days of windows breaking, arson attempts, graffitied structures, and terrorized residents in the high-rise, the beleaguered mayor called U-Haul.
Wheeler acquiesced to thugs on Tuesday and sent an email to his neighbors that he was clearing out, which would be “best for me and for everyone else’s safety and peace.” After well over 100 days of continual rioting, looting, destruction of property, and utter mayhem, the stubborn man won’t admit he might very well be wrong in how he handles a crisis. Wheeler purchased his unit in 2017 for $840,000, and no one spending that kind of money wants BLM or Antifa skulking about the hedges and indoor potted palms. Remember, Wheeler made a big stink in rejecting President Trump’s offer for assistance just a week ago, and flyover folks are having a field day.
Nancy Hurst Schmidt from Missouri was not surprised Wheeler was fleeing his condo. “Hates his city & people in it. Resign if you’re in over your head, which you are,” she said. Bill Frazee from Peoria, IL, commented, “I have sympathy for the neighbors but not for this meathead! His lack of action has consequences! No one’s fault but his own!”
Kevin Ross, a union man in Texas, admonished the mayor: “A lot of people can’t afford to move out of the hell hole you have created.” And Brad Kinnon in Indiana took a swipe as well, “He’s probably headed to a Republican-controlled city where they don’t let this crap happen.”
Perhaps Mr. Wheeler is rethinking Trump’s offer of help.
