Illegal immigration may be a hot topic for politicians running for office, but as Americans, it should be an even greater area of concern. The left is determined to make us an open border country, allowing any and everyone in, no matter their criminal background. That’s why I feel it is important to highlight the serious crimes committed by so many illegal immigrants in this weekly report.
Week of November 22-28
This is not an analysis, but rather a report of the more serious crimes committed by illegal aliens. While there may have been many more, hundreds even, arrests of illegal aliens for simple infractions, here we concentrate only on the most dangerous of offenses.
Luis Rangel-ReaPreviously Deported Convicted Rapist Caught at Border
Calexico, CA
Border patrol agents were just three miles east of the Calexico port of entry when they spotted a man running north from the international border fence. That man turned out to be 57-year-old Luis Rangel-Rea, a Mexican national and a convicted sex offender.
Rangel-Rea was convicted of rape in 2008 in Santa Rosa, CA and sentenced to 32 months in jail. He was again apprehended and deported in 2015.
“Thankfully we were able to apprehend this man before he made it to the interior of the United States,” said Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “Our agents are keeping heinous criminals like Rangel off the streets.”
Rangel-Rea will be prosecuted for reentering the U.S. after already being removed as a convicted sex offender.
Joel VelazquezMan Kills Teacher on Thanksgiving
El Paso, TX
Joel Velazquez, 24, is being held in connection with the death of a sixth-grade teacher after he allegedly committed a hit and run, striking Amanda “Mandy” Ferguson Weyant, 28, who had been in the crosswalk at the time. Velazquez is suspected of being in the country illegally and is currently on an ICE detention hold. At the time of the incident, he was out on bond for committing assault in 2017.
“I saw where my daughter was hit and where her body was 50 feet from the point of contact. He didn’t even attempt to stop to render aid,” said Mandy’s father, Dan Ferguson.
Two days later, Velazquez turned himself into local authorities.
In July 2017, Velazquez was arrested and charged with assault after he punched his neighbor for asking him not to smoke marijuana because it bothered his children. According to reports, he was out on bond for that incident when he ran a red light and struck Weyant.
