One thing that can’t have escaped your attention recently is the sheer vitriol being applied when discussing President Trump. The media, the packed Democratic candidate field, and even those who make activism a hobby, all seem united in one concept: Trump is the worst thing that has happened to America.
Some pundits suggest the president is destroying the Republic while others take a broader view, stating that Trump is literally Hitler. This begs a question: If the resident of the White House is indeed as evil as they say, why are these doomsayers not marching on Washington, DC to remove him from office?
With Democrats in control of the House, surely more than just a couple of outliers out to make a name for themselves would have pushed for impeachment? That is, unless they don’t actually believe what they’re saying.
Liberty Nation‘s Graham J. Noble wrote:
“In the face of such savage tyranny, why have progressives decided that the best course of action is to wait until Joe Biden remembers what state he’s in? In short, it can only be true that either these leftists know they are full of it or that they lack the intestinal fortitude to do what must be done. It is not enough for them to claim that they are waiting to vote Trump out of office in 2020 since that is by no means a sure thing.”
What to Watch For
As questions are raised about the mental capacity of the Democratic Party frontrunner Joe Biden, attention will shift to President Trump’s state of mind. The media will engage in a tit for tat game of brinksmanship to match each of Biden’s gaffes with a corresponding one from Trump. It may not be good for the country, but it will make great television.
Abandoning Hong Kong?
For the last few weeks, our screens and papers have been filled with images of the Hong Kong protests. It appeared to be a cause that just about everyone, regardless of political affiliation, could get behind. But is this on the cusp of changing?
Many of you may remember the Yellow Vest protests in Paris that began almost a year ago; well, they’re still happening. Every weekend, thousands march out to protest globalism, the EU, unfair taxation – and every weekend, there is teargas fired, riot police are on the move, and sadly, violence continues. But very few places still report on it. Why is that?
Some have suggested the Yellow Vest protests are not receiving coverage because they are anti-globalist, and there’s a lot of evidence to back up this position. But with Hong Kong, we have an actual test case to check this hypothesis. Initially, there was positive media coverage and international support for the Hong Kongese residents … until they started waving American and British flags.
As Liberty Nation’s Onar Åm writes:
“Once it became clear that the protesters championed American patriots, the radical left started siding with the police and the Chinese Communist Party. Progressive journalist Ben Norton, for instance, said in a tweet that ‘there are literal fascists in the Hong Kong guarimbas: they are the anti-China ones meeting with US diplomats, waving US/UK flags, singing the US anthem, torturing mainland journos, using Pepe symbols, & attracting US white supremacists like Patriot Prayer.'”
What to Watch For
The anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China is coming soon, and Beijing will not want to have the protests overshadow the celebrations. While only the very worst of scaremongerers are predicting a repeat of Tiananmen Square, we can predict that some heavy-handed tactics may be used to at least quell the crowds for a short duration. It is unlikely that China will give in to the protestors’ demands.
Washington Whispers & Other Juicy Tidbits
Be on the lookout for:
- In the wake of the West Texas shooting spree, Democratic candidates will begin saying “enough is enough.” Beto O’Rourke will get a poll bounce as he seeks to capitalize on gun control as a central plank of his campaign.
- The ride isn’t over for James Comey. With the release of the OIG report, fresh light has been cast on the former FBI director’s actions and what he believes is acceptable practice. The DOJ might just disagree.
