From the Back Forty: Another Groundhog Day for Trump

We’ve been through this before, right?

Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest-running and most popular weekly column.

Well, it’s groundhog day, again – and heartlanders watching the news this week might find themselves feeling like they’ve seen this show before. A group of progressive climate zealots melted down and threw a tantrum during the Democratic National Committee’s attempt to select a new chair. President Donald Trump has Guantanamo Bay primed to welcome a new crop of criminal illegal aliens, and California Democrats are trying to un-ring a bell as fire damages continue to multiply. Oh, and if you missed it, the green beanie brigade showed up at the Senate Confirmation hearing for RFK Jr., further demonstrating that America wants to be healthy again. Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow, or has spring finally arrived in America?

Screaming Climate Fanatics Disrupt Democratic Forum

The fractured Democratic Party has once again demonstrated that you can’t please everyone. With midterms waiting in the wings, Democrats had to find a new chairperson to fundraise, unite, and craft a new message with down-to-earth soundbites. Trust the science backfired; climate Armageddon doesn’t put food on the table, and they/them pronouns won’t give you a boost in pay.

But there are still holdouts on the radical fringes of the DNC, and it was the climate fanatics (some affiliated with the Sunrise Movement) who came out to play at the committee’s final forum for a chair candidate. The event was held in Washington at Georgetown University and moderated by MSNBC personalities Jen Psaki, Jonathan Capehart, and Symone Sanders-Townsend.

Before the first question could be asked, protesters began shouting and interrupting, causing mayhem and hurt feelings. Sunny dispositions aside, the disruptors could not be stopped, and there was a tenuous moment when candidates were about to skedaddle out the side door.

Greg O’Brien of Utah had to comment: “The secret Republican plot to make liberals look like idiots, known as ‘Operation Just Let Them Speak,’ is clearly working.”

A member of the Newton (MA) Democratic City Committee, Jason Paul said the protesters “hijacked the whole evening” and turned it into “scream night at the DNC.” He may need to get used to the tantrums of the radical left. They are here to stay.

Trump Points to GITMO

“We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,” President Trump said this week. “Some of them are so bad we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back, so we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo.” Of course, the elite followers of leftist policy howled at the moon. But Trump wasn’t the first. Boundless reported on Bill Clinton’s use of the prison:

“The first major immigration issue faced by President Bill Clinton dealt with Haitian refugees who were being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, after being rescued by the US Coast Guard. After campaigning against the policy of repatriation, Clinton reversed course and maintained it. By 1994, tens of thousands of Haitians and Cubans were held in a refugee camp at Guantanamo Bay.”

Renee Kimberly of Houston picked up on that, saying, “Yet the media will lie and act like that’s never been used as a detention facility for this use.”

Greg Dixon in Dalton, GA commented: “So many people mad. I don’t care America First!”

Heartlanders like to do things the correct way, and running amok doesn’t make them happy, as Alabama’s Bill Byrom said: “They wouldn’t possibly have Guantanamo in their future if they hadn’t entered our country illegally and committed crimes while here.”

Groundhog Day. Turns out we have seen this before.

Newsom Extinguishes Threats to Plead for Trump’s Help

After grandstanding while Pacific Palisades was being destroyed by fire, demanding the state legislature help him fight Trump’s policies, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has called a timeout. The special legislation may have been deemed “urgent,” but now the bill to authorize $50 million in spending, which was supposed to head to the state assembly to fund lawsuits against the Trump administration, has been put on hold indefinitely.

Newsom is seeking billions from the federal government, which could be earmarked and offered by President Trump. But it appears Americans are reticent to give the Golden State any money without strings attached – namely, change forestry and water management policies.

In Valparaiso, IN, Roger Dodson saw the signal of surrender, saying: “Kind of difficult to wage war against the man who is going to rebuild Southern California.”

And a farmer in Scottsburg, IN, Michael Moore, had this to say: “Yeah, they’re going to need federal money. Better not bite the hand who’s going to feed ya.”

Green Beanie Brigade

Supporters of the movement to Make America Healthy Again gathered in the halls and filled chambers as Senate Democrats attempted to end Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination. Sporting green beanies with MAHA embroidered on the front, the group was on hand to deliver a message: Hear us now or hear us later.

As RFK Jr. commented: “This movement led largely by MAHA moms from every state… is one of the most transcendent and powerful movements that I have ever seen.”

Candace Templeton in Chattanooga, TN, commented: “I was unaware of the MAHA movement’s history until I saw the interview with Nicole Shanahan yesterday. It’s been culminating for decades, and now it’s going to get RFK Jr. confirmed.” How can you possibly say no to a healthier country? And in Carmel, IL, Ellen Blake warned the senators to get on board: “They had better confirm RFK Jr. because no one would want to make all mothers in America mad. Ain’t nobody gonna survive that.”
