Critics argue that the governor's suggestions seem to be in direct contravention of the federal law that protects lawful commerce in firearms and ammunition. Since 2005 that law has protected people and companies against these kinds of legal efforts. Gun rights groups will be suing to enjoin enforcement of this order presently.
