President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social a Christmas Day “powerful and deadly strike” on ISIS terrorists in Nigeria. Earlier in November, President Trump posted a video threatening to go into Nigeria “guns-a-blazing” to put a stop to what he calls “targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians.”

“I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was,” Trump explained. “The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing.”

“The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end,” Pete Hegseth, Secretary of War, explained in a post on X. “The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight – on Christmas.” He ended his post with: “Merry Christmas!”

The US military’s Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced via X that the air strike was carried out “at the request of Nigerian authorities” and had killed “multiple ISIS terrorists.” The Christmas Day strike follows a week after the president’s announcement that he had ordered the Pentagon to come up with a plan for potential military action in Nigeria, and both Trump and Secretary Hegseth say there’s more to come.
