BREAKING: DOJ Subpoenas Letitia James in Two Cases

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has served New York Attorney General Letitia James two subpoenas. The first reportedly concerns whether her office violated Donald Trump’s civil rights when she sued him for lying about his net worth, and the other pertains to her longstanding corruption case against the NRA.

“Any weaponization of the justice system should disturb every American,” a spokesperson for James said in a statement. “We stand strongly behind our successful litigation against the Trump Organization and the National Rifle Association, and we will continue to stand up for New Yorkers’ rights.”

Reports indicate the subpoenas came out of the DOJ’s Albany office in the Northern District of New York. This is the district of US Attorney John Sarcone, who has been seeking to charge James.

This marks the second known investigation of NY AG Letitia James by the DOJ since President Trump returned to the White House for his second term. Previously, the Justice Department and the FBI opened a criminal probe into claims that James used false records to get favorable loans on a home she purchased in Virginia in 2023 – an accusation she denied.
