UPenn Nabs Nearly $1 Billion in Foreign Cash Since Biden Took WH

How many of the president’s pals benefited from that money?

If you want to apply the phrase “follow the money” to the Biden administration, the trail starts at the University of Pennsylvania. The Ivy League linchpin that is home to Biden’s foreign policy think tank just so happens to have seen a dramatic spike in foreign donations since its man entered the White House – to the startling tune of almost $1 billion in a mere two years.

The Washington Free Beacon reported May 17:

“The University of Pennsylvania has raked in over $1 billion in foreign funding since launching President Joe Biden’s think tank in 2018, according to financial records – with money pouring in from Chinese officials, the Saudi Arabian government, pharmaceutical companies seeking U.S. assistance, and business magnates facing investigations for tax fraud and corruption.

The influx of cash increased significantly after Biden took office, spiking from $79 million in 2020 to $479 million in 2021 and $495 million in 2022, according to the Pennsylvania state records, which were obtained by the watchdog group Americans for Public Trust.”

Clinton Foundation Goes to College

The pattern is familiar for those who paid attention to the discreditable transactions at the Clinton Foundation. As Liberty Nation’s Sarah Cowgill reported in 2018, money poured into the organization in the years leading up to November 2016, when Hillary Clinton was expected to succeed Barack Obama as president. The foundation took in “$62.9 million in 2016, $108.9 million in 2015, and $172.6 million in 2014,” Cowgill noted.

But after Hillary shockingly (to the ruling establishment, at least) lost to Donald Trump, donations mysteriously dried up. Fast. Funny how that works.

“Mrs. Clinton had a chance at becoming president. Since then, she lost. She’s likely out of public life. [Bill Clinton’s] reputation has been damaged by the fallout of the #MeToo movement, so the organization’s not as attractive as it once was,” Leslie Lenkowsky, an emeritus professor at Indiana University, told Philanthropy News Digest. It’s amazing how blithe credentialed establishment figures can be about blatant attempts to purchase influence with American political leaders.

With Biden, an unsettling portion of the buyers hail from an Asian communist superpower considered to be the greatest geopolitical threat to the US today.

Fox News reported May 16:

“Chinese donations to UPenn totaled at least $105 million from mid-2018 to mid-2022, or nearly double what was previously known, according to the records. UPenn also experienced skyrocketing Chinese cash as Biden ran for president, with almost $75 million coming from China and Hong Kong sources. The contributions, which Americans for Public Trust obtained in Pennsylvania, show foreign donations of $100,000 or more.

Among its Chinese donors are a company and individual linked to past Hunter Biden business deals, including a lead investor and a board member of a company that landed an arrangement facilitated by a Hunter-tied investment company.”

“We now know that the University of Pennsylvania – home to Joe Biden’s namesake think tank – received a massive increase in contributions from China and Hong Kong as he was ramping up his presidential campaign, and has raked in millions from CCP-tied donors since he took office,” Americans for Public Trust Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland told the network. “The president owes the American people answers about the depth of his financial connections to foreign nationals who are undercutting our nation’s security and prosperity.”

It must be emphasized that Joe Biden has personally profited from his relationship with the university that is suddenly awash in foreign cash since he entered the White House. In January, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) called on the school to reveal “all documents and communications related to donations originating from China and a list of all Chinese donors – and the individual amount donated – to UPenn.”

“The Penn Biden Center appears to have acted as a foreign-sponsored source of income for much of a Biden Administration in-waiting,” Comer asserted. “Between 2017 and 2019, UPenn paid President Biden more than $900,000, and the university employed at least 10 people at the Penn Biden Center who later became senior Biden administration officials.”

Among the Biden officials handsomely compensated by UPenn is Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

In a dire attempt to normalize this highly compromising situation, big-box local newspaper The Philadelphia Inquirer, which has questionable sources of financing itself for a supposedly unbiased news outlet, published a lengthy article in March stating that there is nothing unusual at all about massive amounts of Chinese cash flowing into American universities.

“China accounts for one-third of the foreign students attending American colleges and universities, according to data compiled by the U.S. Department of State and, as the Chinese economy has grown, newly wealthy individuals have increasingly sent donations to America’s most prestigious schools, say experts in higher education,” the paper stated.

“There’s just many more people [in China] who can afford an American education, who can afford to send their children to go to school here, or to make more donations,” Karin Fischer, a reporter on international education for the Chronicle of Higher Education, told The Inquirer.

“To be a world-class university requires you to have a global footprint,” Northwestern University’s Kyle Long, “who tracks foreign influence in higher education,” is quoted as saying.

Nowhere in this propaganda-laden piece is it mentioned who cultivated this enormous Chinese “footprint” in US higher education. Liberty Nation reported in December 2020 on “the critical role the Obama administration and its vice president Joe Biden played in astronomically expanding the Chinese student presence on our nation’s campuses over the past ten years.”

“A vital contributor to the current national security threat came in 2014 when Obama changed the visa rules for Chinese students,” we documented.

“Biden himself specifically encouraged the escalation on multiple occasions,” LN observed. “In a 2011 speech at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, he said that ‘more than 130 [sic – should be 130,000] students from China attended our universities last year. We’re hoping that number will be even larger.’”

It is clear that Joe Biden and multiple officials in his administration reaped a financial windfall from this perilous development that they helped nurture during the Obama years. The money trail must be followed all the way back to China, and hard questions must be asked of people currently running the highest elected office in the United States.
