Biden: Not a Whole Lotta Love

The media keeps telling us how Joe Biden is loved and adored, but Americans do not seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid.

Just how popular is our new president? Very — if you listen to the leftist media. However, if one digs into the statistics, it appears there is not a whole lot of love for Joe Biden among the people. There are more than a few indicators to back up that statement. Perhaps it is time to give them a look.

This week in a quasi-State of the Union message, Mr. Biden took center stage, but few Americans watched it. By now, many know what the leftist media cannot cover up: under 27M people tuned in to hear the president. That is less than half of President Trump’s first SOTU speech (48M) and fewer than Trump’s last joint session of Congress address (37M). It downright pales compared to Barack Obama’s first speech, which posted a whopping 52.3M viewers.

Yawn, Yawn!

As soon as the dismal ratings were posted, a fawning media lined up with excuses. The New York Times was quick to point out that it was a “much larger audience than Sundays Oscars telecast.” Over several column inches, the Times listed a plethora of excuses: the speech came later in the year than usual, the number of those attending was small, the pomp and circumstance was minimal, and my personal favorite: “TV ratings, in general, have sunk in recent years….”

According to Newsbusters.org, “MSNBC reporters struggled to find anyone who had watched President Biden’s address to Congress.” MSNBC pointed out that most people “just went to bed.” But the real news here is not merely that fewer Americans watched the speech, but what those who did had to say. This is where things begin to get ugly for the new president.

The White House YouTube channel posted just under 65,000 views of the speech, but of those, 788 gave it a thumbs up, and 11 thousand gave it a thumbs down. The White House (perhaps wisely) turned off the comment section. If you surf on over to the CNN YouTube channel, 398 thousand people watched Biden, and 8.2 thousand gave it a thumbs up. But – wait for it – a staggering 16 thousand viewers gave it a thumbs down.

Close to 12 thousand comments were posted on CNN’s channel, but here is where things unravel for the president. Colleen MacIntosh threw it down with: “Lol, most votes ever in the history of the USA? Cemeteries on lockdowns, too? Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining.” David Jenkins wrote: 14 minutes in and… I’m out. That’s enough lies for tonight… the rest of the week.” David Browne opined: “It was like a night at the old folks’ home, can’t believe how many ancient people we have in charge of our republic!!!” Someone with the handle Blad Dooo wrote: “Poor guy can’t even get positive likes on the far-left CNN.”

[bookpromo align=”left”] Hopping over to the CBS News YouTube, the public section posted similar observations. Tuco67 put his two cents in with: “Ladies and Gentlmen: The Joke Hiden Clown Show, brought to you by see BS news.” And yet another commenter wondered aloud how long CBS plans to keep its comments section open.

NBC News appeared to be the odd man out. Its YouTube posted more likes than dislikes. Some, however, were not buying the statistics. “Carmen Sandiego” called the network out for playing around with the comments section: “You can delete the dislikes as much as you want NBC, we see you.”

If you want to chalk this up to trolls, there certainly were a lot of them. And they did not limit their nasty remarks to one YouTube channel – the diatribes occurred across the board.

If Mr. Biden is as popular as the networks and cable channels say, there appears to be very little evidence of it. The media elites who support the president may persist in their toadying and sycophantic coverage of Joe Biden, but it appears many Americans are not buying it. If the ratings and subsequent commentary of Mr. Biden’s address this week are any indication — ordinary Americans are having none of it and will continue voicing their opinions no matter how forcefully the high-tech platforms toil to shut them up.
