Why the Left Despises Casey DeSantis

The knives are already out for the other DeSantis.

She’s strong. She’s beautiful. And she’s smart. These are but a few of the sins of Casey DeSantis if one consults the leftist media and their progressive acolytes. Of course, they don’t put it in such words – but they use these positive attributes against her, implying in a thousand different ways that she is really an overly ambitious, power-hungry harridan.

The secular progressive press is running full throttle to attach an undesirable label to Florida’s first lady. Even before her husband’s announcement for president, those on the left began to sharpen their knives – ready, willing, and unable to wait to carve up Mrs. DeSantis like a turkey on Thanksgiving. Is this characterization hyperbolic? Consider these:

On Twitter: “They lied about her [Casey DeSantis] having cancer so she could gain sympathy for Commander DeSantis. Everyone knows this.”

In Politico: “One former staffer told Politico Mrs. DeSantis was more ‘blindly ambitious’ than her husband. Such is her involvement in her husband’s career, some in their orbit reportedly refer to them as ‘the DeSanti.’”

The Telegraph quoting Politico: “She can also accentuate, even exacerbate, his hubris, and his paranoia, and his vaulting ambition — because those are all traits that they share.”

BBC News: “At his inauguration event in January, and then again at his state of the state address in March, Mrs DeSantis stood out with the long white satin gloves she wore. Political observers openly pondered if she was channelling former US first lady Jackie Kennedy. And, if so, did she too want to be the lady of the White House? It seems we have the answer.”

Okay, there are worse things than being called a Jackie Kennedy copycat, but you get the picture. Progressives love to talk (and even wear) a good game about feminism, but it’s all just white pantsuits and fluff. When it comes down to it, they are willing to throw their sports-playing daughters under the bus in favor of trans athletes, disparage former models as “poorly dressed” (Can someone say Melania Trump?), and demonize women who don’t share their political views.

Who Is Casey DeSantis?

Jill Casey Black DeSantis was born in Ohio in 1980. Her father was an optometrist, and her mother was a speech pathologist. She is an accomplished woman in her own right, having worked in broadcast news anchoring, reporting, and hosting various programs in the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Her Wiki page is uncommonly brief – she doesn’t even name her three young children: Madison, Mamie, and Mason. But she’ll likely be taken to task for exploiting them soon because women married to Republican men are either Stepford Wives or Yellowstone’s Beth Dutton reincarnate.

If one listens to the incessant railings of the leftists, there are no decent conservative women, and Casey is merely their latest whipping girl. If they stopped momentarily and accurately assessed the woman, it’s easy to see that what animates Mrs. DeSantis are three things – two of which most women share: her husband, her children, and public policy.

The wife of the Florida governor cares and knows about such topics as mental health, protecting innocent children from offensive cultural mores, hurricane relief, and more. She has committed the iniquities of appearing “in his TV ads, accompanied him on foreign trips, introduced him at speaking engagements and is said to be ‘looped in on every email and calendar invite’ that goes to the governor,” the BBC’s Sam Cabral wrote partially quoting an article in Vanity Fair.

Horror of horrors!

These attributes make her “a double-edged sword in her husband’s battle for the White House,” according to a headline republished from Politico in Yahoo! News. Those on the left continually parrot one another so that no matter where readers go, they are fed the same information, such as disgruntled former staffers who claim she is “blindly ambitious.” Florida’s first lady is even criticized for saying she would “move mountains to help him.” Who wouldn’t want to be married to someone like that?

And so, the leftist press is licking its chops to make Casey DeSantis into a modern-day Delilah, and progressives are lapping it up. Unfortunately, the Democrat-advocacy media and their leftist constituency have seized upon denigrating the wives – and children – of candidates, which used to be considered verboten. Civility is gone, so it’s open season on Mrs. DeSantis.

Occasionally, a sane person will come along and sum it all up as this commenter did in the New York Post: “Leave her alone! She is [a] beautiful accomplished loving wife and Mother.” That’s about all Americans need to know about Casey DeSantis. The rest is just noise.
