Trump Weekly Report: Just the Facts – 08.02.20

The words and deeds of President Trump, without the spin.

Editor’s Note: Everyone’s got an opinion, but who has the facts? At LibertyNation.com, we like to say, “Truth is Making a Comeback because Facts Matter.” Each week, we cut through the noise to bring you some of the lesser-reported highlights of the president’s week.

Monday, July 27
President Trump toured the FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies’ Innovation Center in Morrisville, NC. The facility is working on a vaccine candidate for COVID-19. Also, on Monday, the president told reporters at the White House: “I really do believe a lot of the governors should be opening up states that they’re not opening.”

Trump declared this day National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, marking 67 years since a ceasefire was declared.

Tuesday, July 28
Trump held a press briefing at the White House, addressing a number of contentious issues, including the continuing fight over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. “We’re going to work with a lot of people on DACA,” the president said, “and we’re also working on an immigration bill, a merit-based system, which is what I’ve wanted for a long time.”

Wednesday, July 29
The president traveled to Midland, TX, to visit a facility of Double Eagle Energy. While delivering remarks to an audience of some 200 people, Trump took the opportunity to jab Democrats for their energy policy: “If they got in, you would have no more energy coming out of the great state of Texas,” Trump said.

Before departing the White House, the president spoke with reporters and defended a doctor who had recently come under fire for touting hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID-19. Dr. Stella Immanuel is a controversial figure who appeared in a video promoting the use of the drug and retweeted by the president.

Thursday, July 30
President Trump set off a firestorm with a tweet in which he mused about a possible delay in holding the November election. Citing concerns over mail-in voting, Trump wrote: “With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”

The president later told reporters: “I don’t want to delay. I want to have the election. But I also don’t want to have to wait for three months and then find out that the ballots are all missing and the election doesn’t mean anything,”

Friday, July 31
The president traveled to Tampa, FL, to meet with law enforcement organizations, discuss hurricane preparedness and attend a campaign fundraiser. During his prepared remarks to a gathering of people at the airport, including law enforcement officers, Trump said: “As long as I’m president, I will never defund your police.”

Speaking later at a roundtable with police officers, the president addressed the COVID-19 outbreak, which is currently a primary concern in Florida: “I want our people to be able to live and live well,” Trump said. “It wasn’t their fault that China brought in this pandemic, this plague. It’s China’s fault if you want to know the truth. China should be paying for it, and maybe they will.”
