Times Square Protest Includes Shouts of “Allah Akbar!”

Sunday, February 19th was a particularly busy day in Times Square.  New York City’s iconic Plaza was the site of an anti-Trump rally called “I Am a Muslim Too.”  The rally was billed on Twitter as an event “to bring the interfaith community together…in support of the Muslim community,” but reports from the protest show it was far more disturbing.

Linda Sansour, a pro-Hamas activist and speaker at the February 19th I Am a Muslim Too rally in Times Square.

Some estimates put the crowd between seven to ten thousand people, including Chelsea Clinton and her two-year-old daughter, Charlotte.  Speakers at the rally included NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, actress Susan Sarandon, music promoter Russell Simmons, and Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour.

Mayor de Blasio got things underway by welcoming the crowd.  CNN reported he told the attendees that “regardless of your background, your faith or where you were born, this is your city.”  Meanwhile, Ms. Sarsour announced that she is “unapologetically Muslim, all day, every day,” and called for people to “choose courage in the face of fear.” Hearing the speeches, one would think that Muslims are beaten and killed in the streets of American cities every hour of every day. One wonders why they would come to such an unwelcoming nation?

Ms. Sarsour also mentioned Executive Order 9066, signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, that put Japanese-Americans in internment camps during World War II. Her implication, of course, was that President Donald Trump might well do the same to Muslims.

Interestingly, Sarsour has no problem with violence against those who disagree with Islam. In 2011, she tweeted that Brigitte Gabriel – an outspoken critic of Islam’s treatment of women – was no different than Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim now considered an “apostate” by the Muslim community for speaking out against Islam. In other words, women like Gabriel and Ali are the lowest of life forms.

Sarsour’s tweet – far too vulgar to be printed here in its entirety — announced that Ms. Gabriel was “asking for” a beating.  Gleefully wishing she could remove both women’s genitals, she added, “they don’t deserve to be women.” Ms. Sarsour is well-known for her ties to Hamas, as reported by Daily Caller and others. Perhaps that doesn’t come as a surprise to Liberty Nation readers.

Sarsour’s Islamic supremacy beliefs were shared by many in the Times Square protest, as Gateway Pundit reported that a Muslim call to prayer rang out across the speakers and thousands shouted “Allahu Akbar!”

Sunday’s Times Square protest shows a frightening closeness between NYC leadership and activists with ties to the same mindset that decimated the city less than two decades ago.  One can only conclude those on the left have either short-term memory loss or refuse to learn from lessons of the past.

But the question must be asked: Could the Times Square protest be a portent of things to come?
