While the media and other leftist elites ignore the millions of folks living in “flyover” states, they do so at their own peril; it was this silent majority that put President Trump in the White House. Each week, Liberty Nation gives voice to the hard-working heartlanders who are silent no more.
A quick request on social media to assess the issues affecting the folks in flyover country this week was met with a mixed bag of personality politics and concern for saving the constitutional republic. From reparations testimony on the Hill that went way right of the Democrats wishes and the double standard of the Department of Justice to the angry electorate that’s apathetic come election day and outrage over the ongoing practice of child recycling, the heartland’s silent majority was anything but silent.
The people were ready and willing to let opinions fly – feelings be damned – and demanded proof in arguments on several very incendiary political issues of the day.
Burgess Owens Blasts Democrats
Former NFL player Burgess Owens, who played in the safety position for ten seasons with the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders, testified on Capitol Hill regarding the touchy subject of reparations. Owens is a descendant of slaves with an unkind history he embraces as just that – what’s in the past. And then he did the unthinkable for Democrats:
“I used to be a Democrat until I did my history and found out the misery that that party brought to my race. I do not believe in reparations. Because what reparations does is, it points to a certain race, a certain color, and points them as evil and points the other race, my race, as one that is not only becomes racist, but also beggars.”
And then came the turning point: “I do believe in restitution. Let’s point to the party that was part of slavery, KKK, Jim Crow, that has killed over 40% of our black babies, 20 million of them. Democrats.”
Burgess Owens
To say it was a controversial moment would be an understatement – but his words resonated across America nonetheless.
Liz Pereira heartily agreed. “Yes! When one party sanitizes history and tries to make an entire race feel victimized there will always be a divide in this country. Thank you Burgess Owens for stating the facts and being strong to stand up to the party of hatred.”
Kay Dunham also weighed in. “This is so true! It was the Democratic party that supported slavery, segregation and the suppression of the vote among the Black population. It was the Republicans that passed the Voting Rights Act and the Emancipation Proclamation was a product of the Republicans. Mr. Owens is spot on!”
Wesley Lawrence had a novel idea to add: “Have the ‘black community’ pay families of Northern soldiers who died in order to stop slavery!!”
“It’s funny how Democrats are all for the black community when it benefits them but as soon as he said democrats need to pay for reparations then look at all the Democrats come out of the wood work to fight this man over him speaking the truth,” opined JJ Smith, a millennial demonstrating more wisdom than many of his peers. “If democrats want to play the race card all the time then democrats need to pay up.”
When Americans Lose Trust in the System
During the second presidential debate in 2016, when President Donald Trump’s opponent sait that “it’s good that someone with Donald Trump’s temperament is not in charge of our country,” he replied, “you’d be in jail.” Americans have waited for the Department of Justice to investigate Hillary Clinton’s time as Secretary of State since that moment – and they’re still waiting.
It has been a long two years of the top cops in the land wasting time running down what accounts to a fake news story prompted by a fictional dossier and seemingly corrupt departments in collusion to unseat a duly elected president. That doesn’t sit well with constitutionalists.
Dave Metcalf shared his ever-increasing anger at the situation:
“I am increasingly worried that our Justice system is irreparably broken. The Clintons have never been made accountable for the mountain of crimes they’ve committed. The FBI/DOJ/Intel people who planned and executed the coup attempt against Trump may never face Justice for what they did. A Constitutional Republic is founded on the precept of equal justice under the law, and we do not presently have that. The longer we go without it, the harder it will be to ever get it back.”
Mike Culver replied with an ominous prediction: “Armed revolution will be the only way we will ever get our nation back from the freaks that are in charge. President Trump is fighting the good fight but social media and fake news have brainwashed the sheep.”
Jon Snell agreed. “Double standards. That’s a deep well …Two-tiered justice system.” While George Reid invoked a favorite political pundit with “Will Rogers said it best, you deserve the government you elect.”
There is a Crisis at the Border
Hal DeKeyser, the former editor-in-chief of a major Arizona Daily newspaper, brought up the horrible and increasingly dangerous practice of “child recycling” on the southern border. “How about how children in Central America are being used and abused so adults — too often not even their parents — can sneak into the US?”
Apparently, this particular progressive has been told that no poor, just-wants-better-for-their-family illegal immigrant would commit such a heinous act, and demanded DeKeyser prove his statement. The response was a list of statistics and reports from multiple government sources. The progressive went eerily silent on that particular issue. Be careful what you ask for.
Flyover folks may grab guns, clutch bibles, and say “bless your heart” inappropriately at times, but never doubt the intelligence, understanding, and perseverance of the once silent majority. They also have Google, but what makes these folks so dangerous to the coastal elite is that they combine education and intelligence with common sense. And there is no ability for corruption by the left.
