Loretta Lynch On The Hot Seat With Judiciary Committee

In the face of a nearly year-long investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, the left has charged President Trump personally with collusion – yet not a single piece of irrefutable evidence has surfaced to date. With several congressional committees and a special counsel with a theoretically unlimited budget investigating Mr. Trump and others involved with his campaign, it is currently impossible to calculate the total cost of what the president understandably calls a witch hunt – especially since it is apparently only about 20% complete!

These baseless attacks are finally getting some results, though they’re not the results the left would like. In front of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the world during a live-stream event, former FBI director James Comey clearly stated numerous times that Donald Trump was not personally under investigation. Hillary Clinton, however, was – and then Attorney General Loretta Lynch preferred that the FBI match the Clinton campaign in referring to the criminal case as a “matter.” After Mr. Comey’s alarming testimony, the former AG now finds herself in the hot seat as the Senate Judiciary Committee prepares to question her. The Washington Times reports:

Fired FBI Director James B. Comey has said publicly that Ms. Lynch tried to shape the way he talked about the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s emails, and he also hinted at other behavior “which I cannot talk about yet” that made him worried about Ms. Lynch’s ability to make impartial decisions.

Mr. Comey said that was one reason why he took it upon himself to buck Justice Department tradition and reveal his findings about Mrs. Clinton last year.

The probe into Ms. Lynch comes as the Judiciary Committee is already looking at President Trump’s firing of Mr. Comey.

President Trump admitted that he was thinking about the Russia investigation when he fired James Comey, so there’s no point trying to deny that it was a factor. However, the left seems to have latched on to the idea that the president could only be upset about the FBI’s handling of the Russia investigation if he were, in fact, guilty of collusion. That theory might sound plausible at first, but it just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Mr. Comey told Donald Trump on three occasions what he said to the Senate and the world several times during his hearing: Mr. Trump was not personally under investigation by the FBI. Mr. Comey did not, however, inform the general public before that hearing, which is exactly why the president expressed his disappointment. At no point did the President ask his FBI director to drop the investigation – only that he clear up who and what they were investigating. Additionally, Mr. Trump expressed his hope that they could prove that there was no collusion but added that if any of his “satellites” were guilty, it would be good to find out and have it in the open. Is it not then far more likely that President Trump was disappointed that James Comey refused to tell the general public that the FBI did not suspect him of collusion?

While this point did not appear in Mr. Comey’s testimony, Loretta Lynch’s apparent attempt to downplay the seriousness of the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton certainly did. It was inappropriate enough that it left the director of the FBI feeling queasy. Undoubtedly the Democrats of the previous administration thought themselves impervious, but their rabid determination to bring down The Donald has backlashed and proven that no one is untouchable.

Let us be clear, “collusion” with Russian operatives to influence a presidential election is adhering to the enemies of the United States and giving them aid – treason as defined by Article Three Section Three of the U.S. Constitution. Treason is perhaps the most serious charge that any American can face; it is not an accusation to be made frivolously.  The President has withstood months of investigation – with many on the left openly calling him a traitor. Will Loretta Lynch and others from the Obama administration and Clinton campaign fare so well? What new names and accusations will surface now that the witch hunters have become the hunted? We know not yet what will come of the new probe, but if the left’s Kamikaze attack finally crashes and burns, it will have been worth any expense.
