The Latest Dog Whistle
When President Trump planned his event ahead of the Fourth of July at Mount Rushmore, he must have known the left would have something to say about it. But destroying monuments doesn’t right any of the wrongs our national heroes did, any more than it undoes any of the good they did.
Liberty Nation’s Pennel Bird explained:
“What we need to reflect on honestly, in a less incendiary moment, is how we reconcile the imperfect lives, attitudes, and actions of our forefathers with their towering achievements. The mob rage that brought so many statues down around the country has to be understood side by side with the deep patriotism that erected them in the first place.”
What to Watch For
Despite the bad press the monument is getting at the moment, Governor Kristi Noem has vowed to protect the South Dakota monument as long as she holds office. So don’t go looking for it to be destroyed any time soon.
Trump and His Midas Touch of Racism
This isn’t Mount Rushmore’s first rodeo, but the problem today is the president not the monument. Obama and Bernie Sanders both gave speeches in front of Mount Rushmore, and there wasn’t a thing bigoted about it then. But anything President Trump touches turns to rotten racism in his hands, as far as the left can tell. It’s as if he has the Midas touch of hatred.
Liberty Nation’s Graham J. Noble has a few questions for the left:
“As for the almost overnight transformation of America’s monuments into literal pillars of racism, one cannot help but take a step back and ask the obvious questions: If these statues and monuments are so threatening, divisive, shameful, and offensive, why has the political left not demanded their destruction before? Why has their public display for decades been tolerated? Why did none of the Democrat presidents who came before Trump order their removal?”
What to Watch For
Watch the president’s Midas touch in action as he moves around the nation, making speeches and holding rallies. Which monument or city will be declared a hotbed of racism next?
Washington Whispers & Other Juicy Tidbits
Be on the lookout for:
- Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, has long defended the name of his team. But lately, he’s been feeling the pressure in the pocketbook as more of the team’s major sponsors want it changed. The Readskins announced Friday, July 3, that the franchise will go through a “thorough review” of the team’s name. Are changes on the horizon?
