All the Benefits, None of the Work

As Democrat-led cities across the nation burn, mayors and governors refuse to put a stop to the riots. President Trump is tired of it, and is threatening to put an end to federal funding to these places. Of course, these leftist leaders are aghast – how dare he mess with their money? Some even plan to sue the president for violating the general welfare clause of the Constitution, as if it guaranteed these lazy leaders a slice of the federal tax pie when even when they don’t do the work to earn it.

Liberty Nation’s Graham J. Noble examines the faulty thinking:

“Thomas Jefferson had to say about the clause,'[T]he laying of taxes is the power, and the general welfare the purpose for which the power is to be exercised.’ So is this why Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York plans to take the Trump administration to court, should the president make good on his implied threat to withhold money from states that refuse to restore law, order, and civility? Does this general welfare clause magically bestow upon the states the right to a cut of the American taxpayer’s hard-earned dough? If it does, then perhaps Cuomo and other ineffectual or simply negligent governors should read the rest of the Constitution, which also mentions establishing justice and ensuring ‘domestic Tranquility.’”

What to Watch for

Don’t expect these leaders to take the threat to heart and actually do their jobs. It’s far more likely that they’ll try to call Trump’s bluff and then throw a bit fit and try to sue if he goes through with his promises.

Rioters for Hire

As worrisome as the nationwide rioting already is, a more concerning trend has become evident: They aren’t genuine expressions of outrage by locals. Arrest records show that rioters in any given location are a mix of locals and out of towners, the latter traveling all over the country to take place in different riots. But how? These people aren’t working, so how can they sustain their nationwide vacation of vandalism? Easy. They are working – but the question is for whom?

Liberty Nation’s Sarah Cowgill explains the most likely culprit:

“Many consider the group Democracy Alliance (DA) the place to start ferreting out how funds are utilized to promote unrest. DA is a George Soros-founded organization that is a consortium of heavy-hitting leftist and progressive-minded donors. In 2016 they had Black Lives Matter in their quiver to supply resources. One can perform a simple internet search and find hundreds of organizations – one or several for nearly every state – to assist in bailing out rioters and protesters. Candidate Joe Biden’s staffers have contributed to the Minnesota Freedom Fund to help the rioters who damn near burned Minneapolis to the ground.”

George Soros. Staffers under Joe Biden. Leftist and progressive minded donors across the board. Who’s paying for these rioters to burn the nation down? The very same Democrats who refuse to denounce them, instead calling them peaceful protesters.

What to Watch for

For a while, those who suggested this were called conspiracy theorists. However, that has changed. Now, Big Brother is watching. The Department of Justice is now tracking these organizations. What legal fate awaits those financially fanning the flames?

The president announced $1 million to Kenosha law enforcement “so you have extra money to go out and do what you have to do.” He also announced $4 million to support local businesses affected by the violence, and $42 million to support public safety statewide – including support for law enforcement and prosecutors.
