Barr Hunts the Truth
On May 23, President Donald Trump released a two-page memorandum that is set to unleash fire and fury in the Washington DC Swamp. He has urged numerous government agencies and departments to “quickly and fully cooperate” with Attorney General Bill Barr in an investigation into the origins of the Russian Collusion inquiry. And many politicos are aghast at what may be uncovered.
Barr has a wide scope on what to search for, including where the claims began, how the FBI handled the information, whether or not they knew the Dodgy Dossier was, in fact, dodgy, and a lot more. The issue that has subsumed politics in America for the last two years is about to be treated to a harsh dose of sunlight, sending creatures who prefer the shade scurrying under their favorite rocks.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), took particular offense at the thought of an investigation, despite claiming previously that he had seen "direct evidence" of collusion. He tweeted: “Trump and Barr conspire to weaponize law enforcement and classified information against their political enemies. The coverup has entered a new and dangerous phase. This is un-American.”
Some might wonder why Schiff did not think the weaponization of the FBI in the hunt for collusion evidence was not quite so "un-American."
What to Watch For
Be on the lookout for Democrats crying "witch hunt!" yes, those same ones who lambasted the president for using that exact term. Now that the Washington Swamp is on the defensive, all calls for transparency will likely cease and "weaponization" will be the word of the day.
Lynch Debunks Comey
Transcripts of interviews with several formerly high-ranking officials have been released – and none so smoldering as those with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch. It has long been a matter of contention as to why, in her role as AG, Lynch ordered former FBI Director James Comey to refer to the Midyear investigation (the Clinton email scandal) as a "matter" rather than an investigation.
In Comey's earlier testimony he made it clear that this was a direct order, yet in Lynch's interview, she denied ever having the conversation that Comey described under oath. Lynch is now calling him a liar, and she is not pulling any punches.
The facts of the matter are that one of these two former officials is lying. Comey is insistent that Lynch berated him when he asked "why" he should refer to the investigation as a "matter," whereas Lynch says she gave no such direction. If Lynch is lying, then she is running cover for her likely illegal involvement in frustrating an FBI investigation – obstruction? Or, Comey is lying under oath and risking perjury charges.
What to Watch For
Expect character assassination from both sides. This is so much of a gift for President Trump that the chances of him letting it slide are slim to none. He'll use this as a talking point either directly or through a surrogate until it saturates the airwaves and America begins demanding answers.
No Wonder Omar Wants to Abolish ICE!
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), is facing a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, asking for her to be deported. The lawsuit claims that she was never entitled to refugee status, that she fraudulently married her brother to game the immigration system, and may have committed bigamy. Larry Klayman, the founder of both Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, claims that Omar's actions are solid enough grounds for deportation.
Liberty Nation's Kelli Ballard outlines the key points in the alleged marriage and immigration fraud:
In 2002, Omar married Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi and had three children with him.
On Feb. 12, 2009, she married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who Klayman claims is her brother.
Omar and Elmi separated in 2011, but “with a Muslim cultural divorce, not an official governmental divorce.”
In 2012, according to divorce records, Omar had her third child with her first husband, Hirsi.
In 2017, Omar, after being elected to the legislature, officially divorced Elmi.
In 2018, Omar and first husband Hirsi were married or remarried, depending on whether she was legally divorced in the first place.
What to Watch For
Expect almost complete media silence on this issue. While there is any possibility that the lawsuit could be dismissed, no major outlet will even give it a breath of air. If it proceeds, we will likely see an initial rallying of pundits claiming that the lawsuit is either racially or gender-motivated.
