A judge from the Southern District of California on June 4 issued an injunction against the state’s ban on “assault weapons,” which has been in place since 1989. In the case of James Miller v. Rob Bonta, California’s attorney general, Judge Roger Benitez observed: “Firearms deemed as ‘assault weapons’ are fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles.”
