One might think an entertainment network that produces original content would understand the meaning of irony, but HBO has offered CNN host Brian Stelter a spot in its upcoming documentary exploring fake news. The paradox seems to be lost on HBO, however, which apparently believes that Stelter is an appropriate choice for a film about deception in the news media.
This isn’t the only case in which a major network has offered prominent leftists an opportunity to use its platform to spread progressive propaganda.
Progressives Netting Cushy TV Deals

Brian Stelter
Recently, Stelter announced on Twitter that he was part of a documentary titled After Truth. According to WarnerMedia, the film will examine “how post-truth culture has become an increasingly dangerous part of the global information environment.”
“HBO just announced something I’ve been working on for a couple of years: A documentary titled ‘AFTER TRUTH: DISINFORMATION AND THE COST OF FAKE NEWS,’” Stelter tweeted. “The film will premiere on TV and online this March. Directed by @a_rossi!”
While this story sounds like a gag you might see on a sitcom, it is real. Stelter, who works for a news outlet that routinely spreads fake news, is part of a film discussing the dangers of false reporting. While the doc’s creators haven’t yet described what the film covers, would it surprise anyone if they use their platform to convince the audience that right-leaning news is the fake news? And this comes in the wake of CNN settling a lawsuit with Nick Sandmann to whom it will pay a significant sum of money for lying about the incident involving the Covington High School students and activist Nathan Phillips.

Michelle and Barack Obama
Last year, Netflix announced it would collaborate with Barack and Michelle Obama to produce content that likely will have political overtones. The couple’s production company has already released details on some of the programs they seek to broadcast on Netflix. While some are straightforward documentaries, others focus on “woke” progressive topics. President Obama explained that the shows are “[t]ouching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights and much more[;] we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect and inspire us all.”
And now it appears that Netflix may be interested in another power couple: former Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple recently cut ties with the royal family to embark on independent lives, and some have speculated the pair might partner with the television streaming giant. Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos told The Press Association when asked if he would like to work with the couple, “Who wouldn’t be interested? Yes, sure.”
If such a deal materializes, it would likely result in more progressive programming. Both Harry and Markle are known for involvement in leftist politics. Even before they decided to leave royal life, they participated in efforts to address the climate change “crisis.” The couple even announced that they would have only two children because of emissions and stuff. The man formerly known as Prince has also waxed not-so-eloquent on the idea of unconscious race-based bias.
What’s the Goal?
The entertainment industry — which has been dominated by the left for decades — seems to be looking for big names to attract more viewers to their networks. By pushing “woke” content, they might be trying to kill two birds with one stone. If they can rake in revenue while exposing audiences to progressive politics, what’s not to like?
