Democrat PAC Drops Xenophobic Oz Ad in Pennsylvania

More proof the dreaded ‘R’ brand is a tactical weapon and nothing else.

It’s the most diabolically nativist political ad of 2022, a slice of xenophobia complete with spooky Willie Horton-style narration designed to appeal to the worst foreigner-bashing instincts of knuckle-dragging American racists. Well, that is how Democrats would normally describe it. Only problem is, the Mehmet Oz ad in question was created by a Democrat PAC.

Oz, the Pennsylvania Senate Republican nominee, is facing hardline progressive Democrat Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman in the general election. Oz holds Turkish citizenship, served in the Turkish army in the 1980s, and has voted in Turkish elections as recently as 2018.

Oz Ad Shows Anti-Racists to Be Racist

It would appear more than proper for a political opponent to bring all that up in a campaign. After all, serious national security questions abound. And, indeed, Oz’ GOP primary rivals, especially hedge fund multi-millionaire Dave McCormick, were not shy in raising the issue.

But it takes quite a bit of gall for a party that thrives on excoriating Republicans for their “racism” and “intolerance” to try to turn Oz into a poster boy for the treacherous “un-American” foreigner tied to a backward Muslim regime. Yet this is precisely what Really American, a PAC founded to oppose America First President Donald Trump that is an active part of the Democrat fund-raising machine, is attempting to do.

The donate button on Really American’s website leads to ActBlue, the main Democrat online fund-raising platform. Here is the ad in question:

Created for the May 2022 GOP primary, the Oz ad has since gained traction with many Democrats on social media, who seem to be warmly embracing its harsh and unmistakable “don’t trust the swarthy foreigner” message.

Note the sinister commentary. “Not only can Oz not be trusted to faithfully represent the United States and the Constitution, his election would represent a clear and present danger to the United States,” the voice-over gravely warns as images of a cackling Oz are shown.

These are the same people who will not stand for any criticism of Muslim refugees from known terrorist-supporting nations such as Somalia. Can you imagine the outcry if a Republican PAC had crafted a similar ad about progressive Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)?

Of course you can, because we have all seen criticism of Omar’s radicalism denounced as “xenophobia” and hate-mongering again and again by Democrats and their big-box media allies over the past several years.

Speaking of National Security …

One also does not have to wonder what the Democrat reaction would be if a Republican PAC supporting Oz began airing ads denouncing Fetterman for boasting that his wife came to America as an illegal alien. He uses his official campaign website to specifically herald her as a “trailblazer” for residing in this nation illegally for more than a decade:

“Gisele Barreto Fetterman, the Second Lady of Pennsylvania (or as she prefers, ‘SLOP’) is a trailblazer in her own right. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Gisele’s mother took her and her younger brother to the United States when she was seven, all of them undocumented immigrants. They lived in a one-room apartment in New York City and were teaching themselves English while her mother worked cleaning hotels and houses. After 15 years of living in the shadows, Gisele received her green card in 2004 and became a United States citizen in 2009.”

This is not merely a personal issue. Fetterman cites his wife’s background as a reason for his staunch political support for illegal aliens. “I’m proud of my wife Gisele’s origin story,” he declares in a campaign ad. “And I’m so grateful to the sacrifices that her mother made all those years ago to come to this country looking for a better life. Because if they didn’t, I wouldn’t have the incredible family that I have now.”

The ad continues: “The Statue of Liberty says send us your poor, huddled masses. And as long as we remain true to that original sentiment America will continue to grow and prosper. Because immigration makes America America.”

Fetterman is using his wife’s former illegal status to buttress his support for an open-doors immigration policy. Is this not a national security issue as well?

Gisele Fetterman is a tireless advocate of illegal aliens. A March 2020 article at Lancaster Online detailed her work with CASA, a radical pro-illegals organization, reportedly run by former Central American communists, to get illegals counted in the U.S. Census. “Fetterman, with CASA workers in red T-shirts, knocked on a few doors,” Lancaster Online wrote. “I know what it’s like to be scared of a knock on the door,” she told the news outlet. “We were terrified to open our door for years because our family would have been … deported.”

Run political ads that focus on the extremely serious issue of illegal immigration, and you are a racist, a bigot, and other similar words Democrats can hurl. But when Democrats need to win a crucial Senate seat, all that is out the window.

It’s not hypocrisy. It’s tactics. It shows how pointless it is to take Democrats at face value on racial issues. Everything is a weapon for them in service to the expedient goal of immediate victory.
