Multiple news outlets, including CNN and Politico, have reported that President Biden has decided on Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court. In addition to being black and female, two job requirements Biden instituted, Judge Brown currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. The 51-year-old judge was elevated to the appeals court last year by Biden, after nearly a decade on D.C.’s federal district court. Judge Brown previously worked as a public defender and holds undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard.
President Biden is expected to make the nomination official Friday afternoon.
