A new video showing illegal migrants being dropped off at the Westchester County Airport in New York has sent another round of shock waves rippling across the country. This covert action is not the first time secret airlifts of illegals have been exposed. Still, it does step on the Biden administration narrative that it is merely uniting children with their families. The taped segment clearly shows primarily young men – not children – exiting the aircraft under the cover of darkness.
Not So Hush-Hush
The 51-minute video recorded last August was made public as the result of a Freedom of Information Act request by New York gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino. Local police could be heard throughout the taped segment questioning unidentified private security contractors. Comments ranged from “Like I said, everything is supposed to be hush-hush,” to “A lot of this is just down-low stuff,” and revealed this was an operation that was supposed to fly under the radar. But the blockbuster comment was this one:
“But what’s the big secret?” a cop asked.
“You know why. Because if this gets out, the government is betraying the American people,” a contractor replied.
Social media lit up with responses from Americans across the country who expressed this sense of betrayal. “Enemies, Domestic!!!” wrote Danny McGourick on Liberty Nation’s Facebook page. “Stop bringing illegal immigrants over here,” thundered Sharon Nutter, “Send them back where they came from.” Gary Humenik chimed in with, “Houston, I think we have a problem,” while Heather Koch suggested, “Ship them to joeys front door!”
Several of our Facebook followers brought up the legality of such a move. “This is illegal and whoever authorized it is a traitor,” Stephen Phairas declared, while Mary Ferryman asserted: “This should be illegal.” We asked Liberty Nation Legal Affairs Editor Scott D. Cosenza, Esq. to tell us if any laws have been broken by Biden & Company:
“I can think of no law being violated by the administration here. Most, if not all, the laws concerning immigration regulate the behavior of those who would immigrate, not the officials handling those people. If the people wish to restrain the executive regarding their actions here, new federal legislation may be required.”
The White House is quite aware that issues of legality and betrayal are two different bunny trails. Wanda Arnold exemplified that sense of betrayal when she queried on LN’s Facebook page, “Why is our govt. doing this to us?”
While outraged citizens vented about this clandestine operation, the White House Twitter account, along with the president’s page, was silent about the widespread disapproval of its airlift operations. Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted that she was “traveling to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to attend the inauguration of President Xiomara Castro.” Then she added, “We will meet later today to discuss deepening our cooperation across a broad range of issues …” leaving Americans to wonder whether she was going to ask if Hondurans prefer Coke or Pepsi products inflight.
So, where is all the “trust and transparency” that Mr. Biden promised? Liberty Nation Managing Editor Mark Angelides may have put it best when he wrote:
“This appears to be one more promise that the president has broken. Secret flights, secret projects, and hand-wringing obfuscation by the White House is not – by any definition – transparent governance.”
This is the crux of the problem and perhaps explains in part Biden’s ghastly approval ratings in the polls. Somehow, through it all, the president remains blissfully unaware of what people are thinking about his job performance. After all, it was only a few days ago when he proclaimed he “probably outperformed what anybody thought would happen.” That comment, taken in context with his midnight flights of illegal migrants to parts unknown, may, in point of fact, be valid. No one could have imagined such a betrayal of the public trust.
